I am glad you sent this follow-up before I responded to your first message- it wasn't going to be a nice one. 
As to 'chatting' with you in the thread, that would be considered thread-jacking with a personal conversation. It is common to tell someone to PM a person instead of jacking a thread. At least, that is the norm for Computer Talk and Off-Topic- since I am a relative n00b to the Civ4 area, I will just chalk it up to differences in the forums. Also, I guess as a mod developer you get more than your fair share of PMs that are a bit more important than mine.
