Learnado's Workshop Is Better Than Sun Tzu

I like them both. My current civilization, the Babylonians, doesn't have the Militaristic trait. This means I pay full cost for barracks. Barracks are required in a city in order to upgrade a unit in that city. Currently, I also have a rather large, sprawling empire. Even with the...

    Which patch do you prefer?

I haven't been playing CivIII much for a while -- I was distracted by Wizardry 8 and Paradise Island. :D So distracted, in fact, that the most recent patch I have handy is v.1.16. My questions are as follows: How many patches for Civilization III are out there? (We're up to, what, 1.21...

    What CIV do you miss?

The Celts!!! I miss playing Boadicea. :D

    How is the INdian Civ

Huge world map, 16 Civs. With competition for iron and horses so fierce, your chances of survival may be a bit greater...

The Art of Fashion in Civ3

Something I'd like to see, say, in future modpacks and scenarios: While, for example, Hammurabi in the Modern Age is dressed in an extremely cool manner (love the glasses!), I've noted that rulers' style of dress, as the Modern Age approaches, tends to become /very/ Western. You might...

Are there any units that strike fear in your heart?

Hordes of samurai. Assuming the Japanese develop them before you develop, say, Cavalry, they'll be happy to attack you. :D Alternately: Hordes of Persian Immortals in games where your civ has NO iron.

Why is there NOTHING TO EXPLORE??

I did once have *gasp!* a game where significant landmasses went uncolonized until after the discovery of Navigation. Happily, my civilization was the first to discover it. My ships merrily sail through the oceans and discover 2 or 3 nice-sized land masses (large islands or bitty continents...

    more forbidden palaces

I like this idea, actually. If it reduces corruption, it is a GOOD THING. :D

    Civ Add-on/Expansion Pack Ideas

LESS CORRUPTION Even post-patch, it's horrible.

    Things i noticed

To make those citizens happier: Any happiness-related improvements. Temples, Cathedrals, Colosseums, Marketplaces (in conjunction with luxuries). Happiness-related Wonders. (Sistine Chapel, Bach's, Hanging Gardens...) Obtain more luxuries. Build worker units. Build settler...

Conquest vs the Greeks = Impossible

I agree that I haven't seen a great deal of use for catapults. However, if you have a game that lasts into modern times, invest in artillery pieces. You won't regret it. :D I had a combined force of Persians and Russians stage a massive land invasion at one point (with the Americans doing...

Thoughts on War and the AI

I was playing a game as the Babylonian Cultural Masters (standard size map, Pangaea, 5 billion years old, Warlord difficulty), eventually winning a Cultural Victory, and during the game I noticed an interesting phenomenon. I had a large empire early on, and made an effort to keep my armies...

    overthrowing terror

I haven't found this to be the case at all. When I build a temple in a conquered city, I get 2 culture/turn, same as a "normal" city. :D

    What a bommer!

Another strategy is to make sure that the capital is the LAST American city you take. No more resisters. :D I took the Aztec capital this way in one game -- 10 population or so, no flipping.

"You must have a citizen to work this resource"

This means that: 1) You must have a worker build a road that leads to that resource. 2) That resource must also be within a city's radius. (When you move a settler around, you'll see an outline, often in something of a diamond shape, around the settler. That indicates the initial city...
