What is the farthest age you could get in in civ3?

Err, modern, and the way I am playing in smaller maps I probably won't be making it out of the middle ages anymore :)

    Modern CSUs

Are you forgetting WWII's V-2s from Germany? Unguided surface to surface missiles.

    trading physics

Sell it! Make as much money as you possibly can, or else in 3 turns someone else will egt physics and they won't pay you nearly as much. When metaullargy appears, unless you want to start a war, wait untill more civs get it and look around for the best price.

    How fast do you expand?

You read the question. In Civ 1, I took my time, I usually kept less then ten cities and could easily keep up in techs, I normally played on Prince and won maybe 1/3 of the games I played. I usually got to 3 or 4 cities as quick as possible then dug in and made my cities really nice. In...

    FAQ on corruption

Did you get the patch? The smaller the map, the quicker corruption gets bad. On my current game (Regent, huge, 16 civs), I have the largest civ, with the forbidden palace basically opposite my capital, and in a republic I am not having any corruption problems, Democracy should be better too...

AI won't buy cities -- is it Emperor or the patch?

Well, I installed the patch, and in my current game on Regent I have managed to sell some techs for 30-40 gold/turn. Trading for them isn't that much harder either. Ill take the patch over no patch, thank you.

    Is the technocracy dead?

I used to play a technocracy style civ in Civ 1 and 2, I am finding it just isn't very effective in Civ 3. Except at chieftan, where you can do nearly anything and win. On a warlord game of Civ 1, I managed to get riflemen in BC. Now that was fun. While it would be nice to see a strategy...

    New Civer needs help!

What size map are you playing on? You will advance much slower on larger maps unless your civ is proportionally larger. Use a small map for a while, the games can still be a decent length and advancement is much faster. Science is created by trade and of course scientific buildings. In...

    Disorder due to Overpopulation

Citizens become unhappy (All of the new ones) after you have a population of 5 on chieftan, 4 on warlord, 3 on regent, and 2 on monarch+, IIRC. Temples will make a person become content in the city they atre built in, the Oracle makes temples more effective. Colliseums make 3 people...

How do you deal with anarchy?

Play a religious civ. My goodness, it makes a huge difference. no anarchy, temples at half cost, plus expansionistic if you are iruquois, just tonight I went from not being able to keep up on Regent to being able to outgrow the AI.

    blinded by lack of science

On smaller maps research goes a lot faster. Also, don't overdo research because you can't get faster then 4 turns/advancement. The key thing is you need to produce loads of trade, and because of the high corruption (particularly before the patch) you need to use your centralized cities to...

    Hard to make peace?

On chieftan you can be passive. Watch as the enemy longbowmen run aimlessly into your mechanical infantry and shrug :). As long as you have at least 2 in each city, you can completely ignore 99 percent of attacks against you in chieftan if you advanced quickly enough.

Corruption Solution That Seems To Work

I know you guys are mostly playing on higher difficulty levels, and I am still playing on chieftan to get used to the game, but money seems a lot easier to come by for me. I am a democracy, 10 cities on a tiny map, my cities are capable of some MASSIVE production (My main city can build...

    How to handle custom Civs?

IIRC in the time period after the medieval time but before the industrial revolution, the Spanish were known for their fleet of ships, so perhaps something similar to the English Man-o-War but room for one or something like that.

Speed and delay in large games

Hit shift-control-M, it will remove all of the additions to the map, it makes it run a bit quicker. Also, remember to turn off the animations and such. Hopefully there will be a patch that gives you the option of not seeing the movements at all.
