I am about to install the drivers found at http://www.omegadrivers.net/ to hopefuly resolve the black map issue and improve some performance maybe. The patch resolved the cheshir cat and resource issue for me, but I still get that darn black map and I will report my findings.
It's always best to close most programs including virus scanning software when you are in a game, especially most of todays games that are resource intensive. But mostly because this exact thing is what happens and it will disrupt your game.
Spyware software is ok, since even games these days...
Some cards just run hot, it may not seem like that, but it actually is. Minute defects can come up with prolonged use too. It just happens when you are playing 3d games. Eventually it may even show up on the desktop like that. I have had a few cards do the exact same thing. But there is nothing...
now that the patch is out, I might actually try the omega driers again. Last time it actually caused my system to crash with the game. Where the original drivers for my ATI card didn't crash it just had those problems that were supposed to be addressed in this patch. Maybe that will fix my black...
I had to make a fresh install anyways. I think some of the calls to the cache were changed because I couldn't load saved games after I updated to 1.09 originaly. Which suggest maybe the same thing for the way it can tell if the installation is valid or not was changed too.
It seems to work. But for me it seems only a few things were improved. No memory leak (runs no more than 256mb) and the lag isn't bad even in high quality mode. Still laggy. But not as bad. The leaders avatars actually render, no more cheshire cat. Also the resources show up properly on screen...
I got that error too and I have a system pretty close to yours. I just re-installed and then put in the 1.09 patch. It seems to work. But for me it seems only a few things were improved. No memory leak (runs no more than 256mb) and the lag isn't bad even in high quality mode. Plus the leaders...
I re-installed unpacked the art files and then updated to 1.09 it starts, but the movies in the begining I notice skip more than before. So I exited out of the program ran a defrag and rebooted the pc. I have closed all unused programs and used the .bat file to set the game to run in high...
Sometimes you get Yorkies sometimes you get Yankies. I have had both. Depends on the call volume and the time. Anyways, another thing I might point out, these cd's use stupid anti copy routines that some older cd-roms might not support, for example the starting "track" of the cd and the list of...
but you see, they wont because they don't have to. Most of us have opened the packaging of the software, and most stores will not take opened games except EB and even then it's just for store credit. The majority of Civ players just play Civ, and are not exactly hardcore gamers, so like me, we...
Most people don't know yet because the game hasn't worked for the majority since it was released. My guess, currently no. But when the patch comes out, I am sure you will have more information available. I have a shared memory video board and I can turn it down to 32mb. So i'll post when I can...
Better than this Q/A thats for sure. But to be honest, with some of the previous bugs that some were having, I think this would be the kind of beta software we choose not to test until an update, then test it. Overheating, massive disk caching, etc.
SO if this was a beta test, the community...
