Earth29civs prototype 1 2016-10-05

It's finally here! Thanks to the contributions of too many people to mention, you now have the chance to finally test the first prototype of my Earth29civs map/mod. Remember that this is far from finished, and feedback is EXTREMELY important. Here's what you need to know about the map/mod:

- The final version will feature two new civilizations: the Iroquois and the Israelites. I haven't begun work on the Iroquois yet, so Sitting Bull is holding their place at the moment, but the Israelites are more or less done. They start with Mysticism and Hunting, and are led by David, who is Aggressive and Creative. Their current unique units are the Conscript (Infantry), Merkava (Modern Armor), and Tamer (Mech. Infantry). I just need to axe two of their current unique units and give them a new one: the Maccabee.

- The Americans are now led by Washington, not Roosevelt.

- The French are led by a new leader, the Aggressive and Spiritual Joan of Arc, who looks and acts a lot like Boudica (I will tweak her personality in the final version).

- The Free Great Scientist has been moved to Scientific Method, the Great Engineer has been moved to Engineering, and a Great Prophet has been added to... calendar. Yes, calendar is a religious tech - just ask the Maya! Also, I'm planning to move the free Great General to either Military Tradition or Military Science - historically, Fascism was always more about economics than the military.

- ALL resources are now visible from the very beginning except for Uranium and Aluminum, which are now revealed by Chemistry. However, you still don't get the bonus for them without the proper techs, i.e., you still can't build Spearmen without Bronze Working or Crossbowmen without Iron Working.

- The Forge still gives you an Engineer, and still gives you +1 happiness for gems, gold, or silver, but it won't produce the -1 health and +25% production without access to Coal. This was done to make Coal relevant in the early game. To adjust for this new weakness, its cost has been dropped from 120 to 90.

- Look for radical tweaks in unit abilities and upgrade paths. Spearmen and Pikemen are now Polearm units instead of Melee units, and can be promoted with City Garrison instead of City Raider. Grenadiers, going in the other direction, are now Explosive units instead of Gunpowder units, and can get City Raider but not City Garrison. They now upgrade to Marines and Paratroopers, and in order to remain useful until that time, they now have +50% attack vs. Infantry and Machine Guns in addition to the original Riflemen, and now do collateral damage. They can be promoted with Barrage, but can no longer be promoted with Pinch, which now works against both Gunpowder and Explosive units; this was done to prevent them from being TOO powerful when first introduced. Look for other tweaks as well, like the fact that Longbows and Crossbows now upgrade to Musketmen instead of waiting for Rifling.

So enjoy. And remember: (a) this is nowhere near complete, and (b) feedback is critical!
