SiBr3's Hatshepsut

SiBr3's Hatshepsut 0.2.1 (beta)

sib-hatshepsut-portrait_500px.png
Lo, the God knows me well,
Amun, Lord of Thrones-of-the-Two-Lands;
He made me rule the Black Land and Red Land as reward,
No one rebels against me in all lands.
All foreign lands are my subjects,
He placed my border at the limits of heaven.
What Aten encircles labours for me.
-Base Inscription of the Obelisk of Hatshepsut, Temple of Amun-Ra, Karnak

Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s most successful pharaohs, left a lasting legacy through monumental construction and bold trade ventures. With her chief architect Senenmut, she built the stunning mortuary temple Djeser-Djeseru, the Holy of Holies, at Deir el-Bahri. Its walls depict her famed Red Sea expedition to Punt, which returned with gold, ivory, myrrh trees, and exotic animals. She revived trade routes, expanded infrastructure and temple construction works, and bolstered Egypt’s wealth through renewed connections with Kush and the Near East, ushering in an era of prosperity and influence.

Replaces: +1 Gold per Age for each imported Resource.

Replaces: +2 Culture on Wonders. Transferred from 'God's Wife of Amun' ability with celebration buff.

Replaces: +10% Culture in Cities with at least 1 Wonder.

Hatshepsut's new ability is designed for a more versatile and less spawn-dependent experience, with a focus on Wonders and Resources (whether by trade, expansion, or conquest). The extra yields and rewards she accumulates from Wonders allow her to pivot into many different legacy paths and play styles, and she can synergise with a number of different Civs instead of just Egypt. I imagine this new Hatshepsut as the Isabella of Wonders, and while she has no direct buffs towards constructing Wonders, she can increase her production output through resource acquisition, which can in turn be super-charged during longer celebrations from Wonder completion.

This mod was originally integrated with my Egypt rework (coming soon), but I’m now releasing it separately in the interest of modularity. While the new ability is not intended to be balanced by any means, I’d be grateful for any suggestions for buffing or nerfing where appropriate. I look forward to reading about your experiences with The Female Horus throughout the ages.

Notes:
  • AI should hopefully take advantage of her unique ability due to her ‘Wonders of Iteru’ agenda. However, I have increased AI Hatshepsut’s bias towards resources and production in general.
  • The Wonder doubling effects should theoretically support modded wonders, provided this mod loads last.
  • Localised into all supported languages through machine translation. The translations should hopefully be understandable, but they won’t be perfect. Let me know if you’d like to contribute any rewrites.
