Can you conquer Britannia and impose your will upon its hapless populace as Bretwalda, overlord of the island? In one of the most consistently popular scenarios on the boards, fight your way through three eras of Anglo-Saxon action and find out. Wield pagan magic, build a lasting culture from the trophies hacked from your fallen enemies, and deal with this strange new religion of peace taught by foreign monks...
See the scenario thread here for far more details, comments, reviews, and patches.
Download the main file above. Unzip it all. There should be a folder entitled "Rood" and two biq files, one entitled "Rood" and one entitled "Rood Classic". The "Rood" folder and these two biq files should be placed in your Civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios folder.
That should be it. To play, go to Civ-Content on the opening screen and choose Rood. Don't forget to set the AI aggression setting to "Penda" for that authentically Dark Ages experience!
Note that as of 23 July 2011 this is an updated version of the scenario, with new graphics and some rules tweaks. If you don't like the rules changes, try the Rood Classic scenario. It has the updated graphics but the rules are the same as the old Rood.
There is also an optional music download. You don't have to download this to play the game, but I think it adds a lot of atmosphere!
Get the music here. To install, simply unzip into the Civilization III/Conquests/Scenarios folder. When done properly, it should put a new folder called "sounds" into Scenarios/Rood. The music will now play in-game automatically.
