I am playing as India, with Gandhi as leader. I have Germany in my game, along with 8 other AI civs (large, fractal map).

I would like to retire the game (it's going nowhere), but I'm encountering a problem when I try to do so.

I select 'Retire' from the menu, and click 'yes' to confirm when prompted. Immediately after doing this, the Frederick Barbarossa animation - congratulating me on my prudence for not aiding a city state - is initiated. I click 'Goodbye' to exit the animation, whereupon the screen goes black. I can still see the mouse pointer, but nothing else. The only way to exit the game is to use Task Manager.

I also tried with a couple of older games, one where I was playing as Germany myself, which didn't have the same problem. However, in another game, where I was playing as Kongo, it was Rome that appeared to congratulate me when I tried to retire (Germany was not in the game), followed once more by a black screen.

I don't use any mods.

The problem only seems to have arisen in the last week or so.

FYI: the driver for my graphics card (GeForce GTX 1060) updated a couple of days ago.
