[1.0.11.16] Game load problems since 2K Launcher Upgrade

Since the new launcher was released last week, game load time has badly degraded.

Much worse, when leaving the game running in its window and returning some while later, the game is frozen. Sometimes it comes back to life after a few minutes; other times the process needs to be killed, and the game started and reloaded from scratch.

For info, I play huge maps on a standard Windows 10 desktop PC. This problem is specific with the release of the new launcher, and appears to be a Steam issue rather than civ itself.

Same here. The game is now unplayable for me, which has been painful. That 2K launcher slowed down the load time and made it nearly impossible to create a game. Any word whether they're planning to fix this?

I'm on a Windows 10 laptop PC.

Hi, just to chime in a bit from my experience. Have not been able to open the more than one time since last thursday. Been in contact with 2K-support that blames the new launcher and that a fix will be announced shortly.
Edit: forgot to mention that I've tried close to every possible workaround mentioned on different forums, including one provided by the 2K-support.

Yup, me too. Civ 6 used to run pretty smoothly on my PC but since the new launcher, it's been choppy and freezing up.

I've been getting this since the upgrade, first time ever. Game does not load from steam. Hit green "Play", tab goes "cancel" in blue, then back to green "Play". Never had any trouble before. Tried a direct shortcut to the 2K launcher after researching this was probably the problem, that does nothing either.

Not a good sign for the Civ franchise with Humankind so close to release, is all I'm saying.

Addendum;

Tried to launch the game just now, got a 2K screen!! Alas and alack, it said "Buy" where it should say "Play". I've had the game since launch. Sucks to be me!!

Off to play Elite Dangerous until Humankind comes out.............

Had the same situation. Launcher took some sweet time to.. ekhem launch itself,.. at first i killed 2k process.. in second try again waiting then some upgrade happen and finally got the 'play" button.. game is running now so i'm not restaring to see if that was it..
