Hi guys,
I've been trawling the forum for the past hour and to no avail. I have Civ 3 vanilla and used to have it patched and working with the 1.29f patch (didn't play it for about a year and I recently came back to it, and it just didn't work) so I reinstalled everything. Now, I used to have and use Civassist II (fantastic program) and I can't use it with vanilla (an error message keeps coming up saying I need the latest patch). But, every time I try and install the 1.29f patch my game doesn't work. For the past hour I tried to look for the answer, but it seems my problem is quite unique. Everyone else keeps getting a disc read error message, but that's not the case with me. I click on "play" or whatever and the screen goes black (as if to load the infograms interactive logo, you know, with the black background) and then it just returns to my desktop! If anyone could shed any light on the matter, it'd be great.
