Only 6 players submitting to this update...everybody else must have gotten C IV from santa. This is becoming a private club, do we actually need updates twice a month ?

Anyway I have to announce, that I now hold the unofficial record of fastest histographic victory ever:
According to game clock my game lasted -(minus) 333 hours.

@Sanabas, did You accidentally trigger the 100 K, there are still some (actually 20) 20K #1 slots not occupied by You
--- or did You finally get bored on the 20K stuff ?
Concrats for the fastest 100 victory ever.

I need a new 'puter. I've played 1/2 a game of CIV on a friend's computer, I'm hanging to sit down for a while and actually play it properly.

Ta. It was going to be a 20k game, but it was a beast of a start for super quick expansion, and I didn't get a really early SGL, so I wasn't beating a 13something 20k date. Figured I'd play it out and go for 100k, and it finished up 1st overall. I might have to try and knock off a few of the other 100k dates now, there's hardly any easy 20k dates left.

That thought had crossed my mind, but I was worried if I cut down the updates to monthly, the people might start getting scared I was abandoning III in favor of IV.

Anyone have objections to monthly updates? With the Gauntlet now running monthly, there's no real reason to have the 20th updates...

once a month is fine for me. :goodjob:

Okay with me, too. You'll just have 14 games from sanabas per update instead of seven :D

I can quit anytime I want, thank you so very much.

*edit*although since there's only one completely empty 20k table, I might have to fill it for the next update. Just one more turn...

I don't think any of the other VCs have all 40 tables with at least one entry. Have to check if 20k will be the first.*/edit*

I think that IS a GOOD idea. You could even have the cut-off day being the LAST DAY of each month.......that would be easier for "older" players, like me, to remember!

One reason I'm gonna stick with the Civ THREE HOF (as opposed to Civ4) for a while is that Civ 4 has yet to become "stabilized". For example, if one feels like playing a leisurely 3-month Huge Histographic game, you can be sure that you will be able to submit it to the Civ 3 HOF, whereas with Civ 4, that game version may be obsolete by then!

Of course there are some other luxuries that I've kinda gotten used to like MapFinder, CRpMapStat, DateScore Calculator and TechCalc.....Kudos to Dianthus, Moonsinger, SirPleb (where is he?) and Grey Fox. In fact there are MANY fine, extensive utility programs for Civ 3 like CivAssist, etc. :goodjob: :goodjob:

Congrats to all the Players for their game submissions and 'slug's Team for conscientiously maintaining the Civ 3 HOF even with the introduction of the Civ 4 "New Kid On The Block" HOF. :thanx:

I'd be happy with updates on a monthly basis so add me to the list.

BTW in my case it was not C-IV that stopped me participating (I got it as soon as it was released in the UK) but a combination of a holiday and the numerous Christmas visits that ate into my civ time. I have just submitted a couple of games for the next update though.:) Thanks for sticking with us, 'Slug!:goodjob:

I have been playing C3C just nothing to submit yet. A have a Sid monster on the line and it has been taking quite some time to reel it in. Don't worry it won't be showing in the all time top 10, but it will make the HOF. To me any Sid game is a monster.

Obviously once a month is good for me too.

it's fair to update III once and IV once per month, I think.

Not sure that I agree with limiting C-IV updates to the same frequency as civIII. When they are getting 200+ submission in a fortnight, they should benefit from more regular updates IMO. I think we have to accept that to many players, civIII is old hat now.

that's it, I don't think of the other side of a coin.

As long as the Civ 3 HOF updates continue I won't complain.
Don't worry. I'll quit IV before I quit III. ;)

Will the one update a month take effect this month? meaning no update 01/20/06?

I can still quit anytime I want, really I can. Moving house made for less games, but I think when the new update appears, there are no longer any empty #1's for 20k or Diplo wins.

I guess we went from 2 updates a month to none?????
