Has anyone seen this?

Everything starts normal. In about 1680AD all combat animations are suddenty empty. When combat happens, the game is just centered to the map without showing any combat.

Never seen this before 1.52.

Rebooting the computer doesn't help.

I attached a save. Could people try to see if they see any combat animation? Use the activated axeman in Khazak to attack the American catapult. It might be machine dependent (my computer is Thinkpad 42p, very powerful).

I downloaded your save, and when I use the Axemen to attack, there is no animation, (the screen zooms to a random area of the map until the fight is over). All of the animations in battles after that worked properly, though.

I just experienced this yesterday. I was using a Mech Infantry to attack a Regular Infantry in a city and when it showed the combat animation it just zoomed in on the city with my Mech in the city and showed no combat. I just had to wait about 5 seconds and it showed in the top left what had happened in the battle. I have experienced several varieties of this happening (i.e. only showing one of the units, showing no units, etc.). I am running v1.52.

I haven't seen anything unusual during actual combat, but since the 1.52 patch units sometimes move all across the map towards their enemy before combat starts.

Mind you, those same units were standing right next to each other just a moment before!

I have noticed similar problems (lack of combat animation, units sliding into battle from the edge of the screen) randomly while playing it out-of-the-box, after installing 1.09, and after installing 1.52.

Also, I just upgraded my memory card. Standard graphics parameters are working fantastically at the highest settings now, but the intro and wonder videos are back to choppy audio and video like they were out-of-the-box. I'm probably one of the few who enjoys watching the wonder animations everytime (not sure why...), so this is actually kind of disappointing. Anyone else experience a DROP in video performance after either upgrading their vid card or installing 1.52? I did both around the same time, so I'm not sure what did it.

One other thing...The light green of flood plains graphics is often visible in unexplored areas of the map. Very odd. Doesn't really give much away other than the existence and shape of part of a river, but still...very odd.

My specs, FWIW:

Dell Dimension 4400
1 GB RAM
nVidia GeForce MX 4000 (128 MB AGP)
Pent IV 2.0 GHz

etc...
