I've thought for years it was possible, and I'm actually going to do it!

Even before my reign as HOF administrator, I was such a diehard Civfanatic, I had no less than five crappy pc's built from spare parts all running Mapfinder in my basement. After several years, I finally got a huge Sid map with a domination limit of 4800 and two four turn Settler pumps.

I can't take much credit for the playstyle, as I just used copied SirPleb's masterful strategy, only a little faster, and on a bigger map. It's now 1950 in my world, my score is already 91,273 and rising 89+ per turn.

Eat your heart out Moonsinger.

Oh no! Me here without my hip waders, shovel and a gas mask. :hatsoff:

Too late, 'slug; my 120k game is in the final stages.
Want to compare save files?

@Tone, Marsden: You guys seem surprised. I know it's been eight months since I cleared the 4000bc file with you, but you really didn't think you'd be seeing this game actually happen did you?

I call date. :p
 It's a milk run, the date is going to be 2050ad like it has to be.

Since I have found financial independence, I decided to lay one out for the ages. I got a huge archipelago where all 7 AI were on a small landmass, and it was surrounded by ocean. The tech pace was fast since they all fought to keep unit counts down. It took a few suicide galleys but I was able to find them. There were 6 cows on grassland near the capital and I had to be careful with city placements to get 5 settler factories. I could reach domination limit without engaging a single AI! Around 30 AD I was at the domination limit. I am about halfway though the AI now and have been baiting them out and razing as I go. Should be good for about 138k, if I believe SirPlebs final score estimator/calculator.

I have MM'ed every turn and looked after each city every turn. If you count the earlier game I abandon, I figure I am in excess of 1200 hours so far. Wonder why I have been so quiet here for the last six months? Now you know.

Whats the date? ;)

It sure would be a shame if you accidentally triggered domination in the final 100 turns so that game never appeared on the histographic list ;).

How funny would it be if the slug was doing this for real and didn't realize that no one believed him because of when he posted this?
I'm confused. I deliberately waited starting this game until after I stepped down from HOF admin, just so people would believe it's legit (and not me abusing my former authority). Is someone doubting my integrity?

English isn't my first language, and while I'm seemingly proficient in reading and writing it, I can't speak it fluently since no one talks in that tongue where I'm from. It's very possible I've missed some nuance in one of the existing posts.

I guess most people feel it's an April Fool's joke since it appears to them you started the thread on April 1. But I noticed that it was actually March 31 where you are when it was posted.

I remember reading in your older threads about the mass of computers you had running MapFinder looking for the perfect map. You deserve a lot of credit for your play with that score even on a 4800+ tile map with due respect to SirPleb, of course. So I hope you enlighten us with a few screenshots and some write-up of this game.

I would provide some links if I didn't have to use a proxy server atm, but I remember reading on the CIV forums a few weeks ago that Moonsinger was actually gearing up for yet another huge Sid milk-run. Looks like she might have quite a challenge ahead of her. This should be fun.:)

Oh, yeah, that game. I'm going home now. :hide:

Yeah, actually it is an April Fool's Joke. I'm not shocked no one really went for it, especially after the stunt I was involved in last year.

Just musing about how high a domination limit would have to be to make 100K possible and how much emphasis a milker should place on the domination limit when selecting a map…

As I see it, with all other things being equal, an increase of 100 tiles in the domination limit could increase score by at most around 2,700 2,100 points: 100 points for extra territory, 200 points for 100 extra happy citizens, and 200 100 points for 200 100 more specialists for 500 400 more points per turn. At Sid level, that gets multiplied by 8 so you can get 4000 3200 extra points per turn through the milking phase. I would say on the harder levels, it would be absolutely phenomenal to reach the domination limit 1/3 of the way through the game (turn 180, 650 AD), so the extra domination tiles only matter for 2/3 of the turns. Does that seem right?

I know other people have said that 100k is possible, but if that calculation is right, then I don’t think that barrier will ever be broken .

You were doing fine until the "eat your heart out Moonsinger" part. And Bartleby really finished it off with the 120K comment.

It was entertaining nonetheless. :D

Sadly, in my haste to get my submission in I quit the MM and went two tiles over the limit so I have to start over. Should take about a year :crazyeye:

Anyone who knows me would be tipped off by the "financial indepence" comment. I wonder how good I could get if I really had enough $ to quit work for good. Check back in 2043

100 points for extra territory, 200 points for 100 extra happy citizens, and 200 points for 200 more specialists for 500 more points per turn.
Wouldn't the 100 tiles give you 100 happy workers + 100 specialists? You'd need 6 food/tile to get 300 citizens...?

Assuming your 4,800 tiles score you (1 (territory) + 2 (happy citizen) + 1 (specialist)) * 8 points; that's a potential 153,600 points. Assuming you are at the Domination limit from the beginning.

Half the game at that limit (1400AD) scores you 76,800 points, assuming a linear progression to the score will get you half that again - 38,400 points. I don't pretend to know what the progression is actually like, but that means that if you can achieve domination around 1400 and quickly redistribute your empire to the good tiles, you have some wriggle room in getting there.

Is it possible to achieve domination and arrange your empire for milking by that sort of date?

Growth is definitely exponential at the beginning for at least the first 100 turns or so. There are some nice graphs of score curves for actual milking games on the first couple pages of this thread.
