My fighter with 2 promos: 130% Interception Chance

Enemy Stealth Bomber: 50% Evasion Chance

How is the calculation? 20%, that the bomber will be successful?

Well, 130% can't exist, right? Because 100% means always so...But I do understand what you mean, and I guess you have to see it relatively (50% of the 130% chance of evading). But that's just my guess, I don't really know.

In fact, there are two promotions which increase interception chance for air units which have already a chance of 100%. That's why I am asking.

50% of the 130% chance of evading

??? Makes no sense, then the evading chance would be higher than without the interception promotions. :D (50% of 130 is more than 50% of 100). Do you mean 50% /2.3 = 21.7% evading chance?

Well, perhaps vice versa and multiplied by something? Indeed, it is very strange. I've just tested it in game, and yes, it does say an evasion chance above 100% with promotions.

As far as i know the interception chance and evasion chance are independent. There's a thread on details of air combat somewhere. The evasion chance is checked first, and if successful, interception isn't even checked for, the unit just gets though. 5% or 50% or 5000% interception doesn't matter for evasion. half the time the unit will just bypass any check for interception.

If the unit fails its evasion check, then an intercept chance is rolled for the highest available unit. Only one unit gets to try. Having more than 100% won't help this.

There are 2 things i think 130% interception can do. First being damage reduces your chance to intercept. So if you fighter has taken some damage, it would still have a higher chance to intercept. This may not be a good thing, b/c its likely to get it killed.

Also if i remember right, air combat damage is based off interception chance. again this isn't really useful because a 100% chance gives 50 damage per round won. increasing that 30% is little help, you still win in 2 hits. And there may be a cap defined in the xml/python, i can't remember.

Given how % modifiers usually affect combat, my guess is that the 50% evasion chance is deducted from the interception chance....

...although that would mean that something with an interception chance of 50% or less could never intercept a stealth bomber, which doesn't seem right.

nope, the evasion chance is rolled first by itself. If it passes, nothing can possibly intercept. For stealth bombers, 50% of the time they outright can't be intercepted.

maybe it's possible the units have a base interception chance on a scale from 0.0-10.0 or something like that?

so technically a %100 interception chance would be raising the individual unit's base

maybe all units would then have a base under the 5.0 or something region?

then you would only be raising that particular unit's odds of interception (example a unit with 2.5 base chance has %130 interception chance modifiers via promotions--resulting in a 5.75 of 10, which is still only a 57% chance of interception)

i think there may be a syntax difference in 'interception chance' and chance to intercept or chance of interception

i have not read any code, nor would i probably understand it, i am simply pointing out a possibility and therefore do not quote this information as accurate

The article explaining air combat can be found in the war academy here.

Basically it confirms what Blacklanner has said in his two posts.
