16 civs at the same time!

I think it has been a recent change. I had been emailing him, so I guess he figured it out.

The only thing I would prefer if there will be 16 civs and 8 playable simultaneously, is that each civ's color NOT be hard-coded. i.e., you can pick any of the 16 civs (Russians & Romans for example from civ2) and then the colors are assigned as needed, the only pre-determined color is the one you select for you own civ. I think this creates a little felxibility that makes up for the fact that we are losing 5 civs.

I see where ya coming from Blue, but I reckon it would still be possible to have more than 8 and be safe. There is gonna be a stage where it does start to get silly though. And I for on am not bothered about playing enemies in lime green shirts with cerise spots.

The # of colors would not be a problem if they do what is being done in this screen shot here!

is that each civ's color NOT be hard-coded.

The 1996 Hasbro game of Risk handles it by allowing the player to choose the nationality/color. It works well!

Again, that is how the Risk does it. Seems like it could work well for lots of civs in Civ III, too.

I like this idea Kefka! It would be nice....
But well now I think about it...what flag would you have for the Babylonians? The Iraqi flag? Nahh...

Which SCN is this? I want to play it! It really looks nice!

It is the "Birth of America" scenario advertised so nicely on the civfanatics.com mainpage...as well you know.

For american scenarios "The Civil War" by Captain Nemo and Alex Mor is superb aswell as the "Colonies 3" by John Ellis...

As for the number of flag colours issue...banded and flaged civ colours are easy to do...and certainly have been around in many scenarios.

I think that simultaneous playing of romans&russians will be possible, for some colours have been changed. for example, there is one screen shot on which the americans and the persians can be seen at the same time. the persian colour has been changed to grey. on other pictures the greeks are now black, the romans red (unless rome was conquered by barbarians). i don't think firaxis changed the colours without a certain reason, so i'm sure we'll be able to combine any civ with any other we wish.

The Americans and Chinese appear to both be light blue like in Civ 2, unless the Americans conquered a few Chinese cities.
I saw a Greek city (Miletos) as green...
