I can't even set it through the ini file - it defaults to 1024x768. Has anyone encountered this?

It worked fine in 1.52 - why did they remove it? :(

Edit: It turns out that you can only specify resolutions that are on your driver list. So if you want 1920x1080, you have to first create a custom driver for it. You can do this using nVidia's custom resolution option.

Seems strange that they don't allow you to play a windowed game at whatever resolution you want, but that's how you do it.

It can go as high as 1920x1200, which is my monitor resolution. It can do any of the pre-set resolutions, including the 16/9 ratio of 1600x900. (1920x1080 = 16/9).

Did you mean I should try random resolutions that are not standard? I don't think my monitor can handle that.

If you can play civ in 1920x1200 which is your monitor's native resolution, why do you prefer 1920x1080?

The small horizontal lines allowed me to see my taskbar (Firefox, chat windows, etc) when gaming multiplayer and I would have to wait for people to finish turns...

Just can't understand why they *removed* a perfectly good resolution. And it's not like they can't do a 16/9 ratio, because they have 1600x900.

1920x1080 is a custom resolution, are you sure that Windows works on it? How did you set it up? what is its refresh rate?

It's just a 16x9 ratio resolution. It definitely supports it - Civ 4 supported it all the way up to the 1.52 patch, but the 1.61 made it disappear. When I try to edit the ini file, Civ forces it down to 1024x768.

All refresh rates are Vsync'd at 60Hz, the rate of my 2405FP Dell LCD monitor.

Hi, I'm having the exact same problem but with trying to get 1280x720, Even if I change it in the INI it bumps is back to 1024x768. Because of this I can't even start the game because I get an error saying that the game cannot reach the desired fullscreen resolution. I'm using a 720p LCD HDTV and dont have any problems with other PC games.

It really sucks that they are blocking resolutions that used to run perfectly fine. :(

Maybe it's time to reinstall the game and apply 1.52 again. :boo:

Here's hoping that the new expansion will take care of this really simple but frustrating problem.
