Tried to make a map myself, but was probably to lazy, it was realy hard work actually...

In the process I made a grid in the format of 256x256 in one layer so that I could just have another layer with a map below, would then be easyer to make a new map more correct. This may be useless for some, but at least I found it a bit useful, until I didn't try to do maps anymore.

Not sure if it's possible to upload here, but if it is allowed, leave your email and I can send it to you. The file is (in zip) 2.32 MB. Got a few grid coordinates on it too, just 0,0 to 256,00 and 0,0 to 0,256.

With the coordinates it can also easily be cropped/cut down to a smaller scale.

seems like that file was to big, but if it is allowed by the forum, just enter you email and I'll send it to you, here is a screenshot of how it can be:

But the best would probably be (if this file is not a total waste) that the mods on this forum could make this downloadable from somewhere? Let's first see if someone is interested.

This is a great idea -- it will make creating real-world maps much easier. I'd like a copy -- mpc (at) attbi (dot) com.

Does anyone have something like this for the 100x100 size map?? That would be even better... (I don't like Huge maps)

Now that I've read your post again I've realized it will be very easy to make it into a 100x100 grid.. Excellent.

using the crop tool you could make it the size you want, but I believe 256x256 is the largest possible in the game. I prefer big maps btw...

I'm sorry to say it, but I don't believe your 100x100 grid is correct. It's more 120,5x256. The grids is not quadratic. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I liked the idea and tried to download the file (my email account won't handle it either), but it don't work. Could you try the "upload file" thing again?

Although, shouldn't the diamonds be not-stretched when you're making a map?

Yep, will do, soon as I can... Forgot about it completely and I don't have my cd's around me right now, they are in another city, where I go to school. Shall remember to take them with me next time, (ten days or so) and either upload it again or send it to you via email.

Please upload it at least, as my email accounts suck.

By the way, how do I preserve transparency when I copy this gif and paste it over another image (my map)? I can open the gif in Photoshop, and it's all nice and transparent, but the second I paste it overtop of my map, it turns opaque on me. If I could import my map into the gif file, that would be cool, but it seems either 1) to not allow layers, or 2) to insist on having the grid as the background so the map always is on top of the grid (I can't remember exactly which happens -- I fiddled with this an awful lot, and got awful confused).

I don't have the file where I am now, but I will remember to look for it when I am at school again. It's been a long while, and I made it to make a map of Europe. I believe it is in photoshop format... I don't understand what you mean here, do you allready got the file?

Or are you having problems with layers in general? You can change what layer you want in the background, or have no background at all, you can move them up and down...

No, I don't have your 256x256 file, but JarHead's 100x100 gif file. If your file is photoshop, that should be better (no layer problems like I think I encountered with the gif)! Plus, if indeed I can choose which layer to use as a background, then the only problem remaining will just be getting my hands on your file!

Thanks! :)

Yeah, I will look for it as soon as I can. And will remember to take it back here if I find it. And I really believe it was in photoshop format. I will upload it then as you didn't want it via email.

Great, thanks!
