I'm working on a small modpack and plan on adding a second UU for all civilizations. Any suggestions?

I already plan on putting the minutemen in as the second American UU.

Let's see....for the Japanese have the Ninja (stealth attack, two attacks per turn, two movement, it could replace the Medieval Infantry...?). For the Koreans put in the Turtle Ship (if you can find the official name for it that would be good) a much-improved version of the Ironclad (+1 HP, extra defense and bombardment values). For the Greeks (or was it Persians?) do the cataphract, a knight with three speed and +1 offense. There's a few that are right on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get them...

Cataphract would be Byzantines, the Greeks should get a Trireme. Germany should get a Teutonic Knight. Spain could have an Inquisitor. Obviously, the Vikings should get a Longboat. The Arabs could have a Settler with defense - Bedouin Settler or something.

Oh yeah, how could I forget the specialized longbowman for the English? You should do more in this mod than add one UU. You should also revamp some units (longbowman to crossbowman and change the unit art too) and revamp the UU's too (like that horrid Keshik). The longboat would replace the galley for the Vikings. It would have increased offense and increased carrying capacity (making those berserk raids especially deadly).

Here's what I plan to do:

* Add an Industrial settler (capable of defending itself and 3 movement comes with nationalism)

* Add an Industrial worker (builds faster and has 2 movement, comes with nationalism)

* 2nd UU for all civilizations

* More naval/air units, and also make them more useful. (increased movement, bombard strenght, etc.)

* Some new improvements/wonders, but not many.

I have no clue what I'm going to call it yet, and I might finish the "upgrade line" for some of the current units also.

America should defienently have the minuteman. France the Crossbowman. Rome the Praetorian Guard. England the Highlander. And Zululand the Boer Guerrila.

This is puglover by the way.

Zimbabwe wasn't really the capital of Zululand either, and the Chinese Rider was really Mongolian, so it's okay if you veer away from reality (not too much though).

Made a few of my own modifications. Credit to LLXerxes for most of the base ideas

I was thinking about making the Ninja's nationality hidden, but then I thought that if only Japan had them, it wouldn't make much of a differance.

Also so more modifications:

* Added another ocean resource (using the fish icon currently) that is +1 Food +1 Shield and +1 commerce (prepared to the other fish +2 Food +1 commerce)

* Grassland/Plains when irrigated produces two extra food instead of one. This is to simulate a more "realistic" effect, IE when you irrigate desert you can't expect it to work as well as irrigating plains.

One time I tried giving each civ 4 UUs :p . Suggestion: Check Dom Pedro II's flavor units project. Huge list of units for each civ. The best from my list:

Rome
Auxilia

Egypt
Nubian Spearman

Greece
Most people said Trireme and that could work, but I was thinking a Hypaspist, Companion Cavalry, Phalangite, or some specialized spear unit like Sacred Band

Babylon
Not sure

Germany
U-Boot (or U-Boat) but Teutonic Knight would work too

Russia
Jaeger

China
Move Rider, give them Junk and Firelancer.

America
Get rid of F-15, give them Minuteman and GI.

Japan
Ninja

France
Grenadier

India
Move War Elephant, give them Elephant Archer and Sikh Rifleman

Persia
Hired Hoplite

Aztecs
Eagle Scout would work but they aren't expansionist. Quetzal Archer.

Zululand
Sarwe

England
Lots of possibilities!!! Either give everyone Crossbowman and England Longbowman or use Redcoat.

Mongols
Rider (originally China)

Spain
Inquisitor

Vikings
Longboat

Ottomans
Janissary

Celts
Frankish Axeman

Arabs
Mameluke Cavalry

Carthage
War Elephant

Korea
Turtle Ship

Sumeria
Not sure, perhaps Mesopotamian Warrior (find a better name)

Hittites
Didn't do this one in my attempt, not sure. Perhaps you could replace (Austria would be good, give Hussar and Grenzer as UUs.)

Netherlands
Kings Transport

Portugal
Cavaleiros?

Byzantines
Cataphract

Inca
Inti Warrior

Maya
Plum Archer

Hope this helps :)

What new city improvements do you have in mind, because there's a few I've thought of. I would make my own mod with all my new ideas but I don't even know where to start...

Here's a few modifications from me.

Turtle Ship-replaces ironclad for Koreans - +2 Defense, +1 hp, requires no coal, +20 shields

Ninja-replaces Medieval Infantry for Japan - +1 offense, +1 movement, stealth attack, +15 shields. This makes Japan very formidable in the Early to Mid Middle Ages.

Replace the longbowman with crossbowman (+1 defense over original longbowman unit) and give longbowman unit to English to replace crossbowman, +1 offense, +1 defense, +10 shields

Cataphract-replaces horseman for Byzantines - +1 offense, ignore move penalty on hills and mountains (I guess).

Ditch F-15 for Americans and replace it with B-52 (replaces Bomber) with +2 operational range and increased bombardment. Also put in minuteman (+1 offense, ignore all move penalties, -10 cost, replaces musketman).

Longboat-Replaces caravel for Vikings, +1 movement, +2 carry capacity, +10 cost.

Yes Hittites really had only one UU, which was the chariot already in use. That is how they dominated the mid-east for several hundred years.

Just a few thoughts, you have already received s tons of good suggestions.
I think it is strange that nobody suggested the tercio for Spain, could be e.g a musketman with an extra hitpoint, and offensive.
I would also have replaced Carthage's Numidian mercenary with Numidian cavalry - a horseman with 1 extra movement - together with some naval unit like trireme - a galley with 1 extra movement.
The Hittites are admittely tricky, but since they were the first to use iron successfully in weapons, an idea could be Anatolian spearman - a spearman with an extra hitpoint.

I also made a mod when I gave to most civ two UU. Here are the ones I used (if there is no entry for the civ, I just let it with one UU, or the civ wasn't in my mod) :

America : Navy Seal (mix of paratrooper and marine, can make amphibious assault and paradrop, +2 A/D).
Arabia : Hashishin (they are the famous sect that fought after smoking hashish, hence their name, and were possessed by a berserk rage while fighting, and were also efficient at killing selected target, which created the name "assassin" in western language) (Medieval Infantry, +1A, can steal attack)
Byzantines : Cataphract (Knight, +1D, +1HP)
England : Redcoat (Rifleman, +1A, +1D)
France : Chevalier (Knight, +1A)
Germany : Trooper (Infantry, +1 A, +2 D)
Greece : Trireme (Galley, +1A)
Japan : Zero (Fighter, +1 A, +1D, +2 operational range)
Ottomans : Janissary (Musketman, +1 D), Mortar (Trebuchet, +2 bombard)
Rome : Fire Catapult (Catapult, +2 bombard)
Russia : T-80 (Modern Armor, bonus +2 A, +1 D)
Scandinavia : Longship (galley, +1 M)
Spain : Tercio (Pikeman, +1 D)

Wait.
For the Iroquois, give them an atl-atl. --archer with bombardment possibilities
Inca, Inti Mace-men. --Midevil Infantry --5.3.1
