Can someone please tell me what the 3 arrows mean in between the leader's name and usually the religion of the civ in the bottom right corner? It's driving me crazy. My civ is always the only one without it.

It means they are connected to your trade network.

Basterds, how DARE they, Kill them, KILL THEM ALL!!!!

ps. yes, he is right, does mean that one. Same goes for your cities, if they have that icon below there name, they are connected. Make sure you connect your cities ASAP, as each connected city gives 1 trade route, AKA 1gold at least per turn

yeah, like the other guys said, they're connected to ur trade network..
i would add on 'potentially' to that though...there are say about three levels...

(unconnected- no arrows)

connected-arrows

connected- u still see the arrows, but ur trading resources with them

connected with open borders- you see the arrows and some sort of parchment/scroll graphic...now your cities can trade with them and build up trade routes, these of course are computer generated which makes it a bit random for a normal player to understand why a particular city is connected to another, but still.its there.
