Oil Refinery.

Probably best use is as a small wonder a'la Iron Works but with a commercial bonus. Oil should be required to be inside city borders. Naturally, that's not what you have to use it for, this might as well be a city improvement.

Basic structure is based on a picture I found in the net but basically everything covering it is my own stuff. There's also a wonder splash included.

Hmmm... that could be interesting :D

As a wonder, I think It would not generate any culture (since when oli refineries did? :D )
It could require both coal and oil, and then it could increase commerce +50% and production +50% (since both coal and oil are quite rare - especially in a same small spot).

As a city improvement it could just increase commerce +50% - and require the oil resource within city limits.

This gave me an idea
What if there were a building for every luxury resource that you can only build when that luxury is within city limits - and it would increase commerce +50%?
- Furrier's guild for Furs
- Weaver's guild for Silk
- Drughole for Incense
- Ivory dealer for Elephant
- Colour market for Dyes
- Mint for Gems
- Wine press for Wines
- Spice bazaar for Spices

I would make it a small wonder, Oil had to be within its radious, and it would give 100% more production.

Oops, just noticed that the smokestacks don't give any shadows. Shouldn't do things in such a rush. Maybe I'll do an improved version with a more detailed shadowing later this day.

Edit: aaglo, that is a good idea and one I've toyed with a couple of times. I believe there is a mod that incorporates it already. Was it the one by Scipio Africanus? I'm not sure.

I think that the reason that every wonder gives culture (even the pentagon) is something to do with the fact that it is a wonder, and so that the game can keep tracks on who's wonder it is.

Good idea! But why would you be able to mint coins (which are made of metal) if you have gems near your town? Call it Gem Dealer or Gem Market or something instead.
And I think it's better to call it a Dye Market.

I've added this building to my Civ3 game, with the requirements for both Coal and Oil within the radius of a city. Should somebody manage to build this small wonder, however, they not only get a huge boost in production, but also commerce AND research. I was surprised to learn that while Oil is usually refined into fuel, it also produces a variety of chemicals that have numerous uses beyond just heating and powering machines, some of which are used in laboratories.

Great idea and nice graphics! Thanks dude. Now I gotta figure out how to put this in the game. Shouldn't be too hard I guess.

There are very good instructions written by Ukas included in the package. :)

this would have been a good building for my mod, but its not what im really looking for:(

As far as I know, this the only Oil Refinery there is. Although, I can't be sure as some graphics are released only with mods. Any way, good luck hunting.

It seems the new shadowing I promised won't see daylight. Too busy right now and can't really find myself interested in touching an old project.
