Ok. I get it why I messed it up so much. I didn't really try to do friendly acts with any civs like sending them delegates and such. May have worked far better if if I had done so.

I named my religion before I saw people were struggling I went Free builder + religious colonization + trade route bonus all came together to overpower my normal game plan for a culture game. So once I got going it was sorta mindless.
Once I built theaters I just spam theater projects.
I left the ancient era with declared friends with everyone I met.
Recorded my game and will post link after it closes.
