Proposal

  • A button to "bribe" an AI player to compensate for their other (minor) grievances with you. You will then have to help them in any war they wage, and also not compete with them in ways you have control over (city states, settling around them on purpose)

Rationale

Currently, the AI relationships are a bit of a wild card. I may want to align with one neighbor over another, to take the former neighbor down, because 2 are better than one, but what ends up happening is you getting declared into an alternating war between the two AI players, simply because either your borders are too close to both of them because you had no other option, or your army being too small at that moment (but you have plenty of gold to buy an army double their size)

Insufficiently specific. Where is this button? What counts as a minor grievance? How long do these agreements last? How does the AI decide whether to agree? How does the AI decide whether to use this option themselves? What does the bribing player get in return? How much is the bribe?

@Recursive, is there a positive diplomacy modifier for the AI if the human player is their (voluntary) vassal?

+40 for being the AI's vassal. No distinction between capitulated and voluntary.
