A Couple of Odd Freezing Instances

For the most part this game runs perfectly fine on my computer. However, I ran into a couple of freezing instances during the game. Both of these occurred on standard sized maps, 8 Civs, 16 City States.

Specs:
Dell XPS 8300 (Desktop)
Intel i7 Quad Core 2600 @3.4GHz
8GB DDR3 RAM
AMD Radeon 6850 1GB

The first one isn't a big deal, but whenever I add the last ship part for a science victory, the game will somewhat freeze for a few seconds before the rocket launches and the notifications pop up. My guess is that the the game was processing the end-of-game notifications and other things like that.

The second one only happened once so far, but it was worse. I won a Culture Victory with Kamehameha, but the turn before I was supposed to win, the game froze up (everything except the music) while it was processing the turn for the barbarians. I had to close Civ V manually using Task Manager. The rest of my computer was performing just fine, and I was only at 17% CPU usage and 33% RAM usage. Thankfully it was on turn 450, so there was an autosave top load from (the victory screen came up as soon as the map loaded xD)

So, is this something I should worry about, or is it just occasional normal behavior? (since this is a big game). Also, will the second problem result in a corrupt Hall-of-Fame entry or will it be fine?

For the first part, I wouldn't worry too much.. It happens to me too. The game freezes up for a couple of seconds on several occasions: launch of spaceship, using a gp/missionary ability, settling a city, ai declaring war on me

as for the second time, it happens to me also, and its def not as ignorable. specially late game, my game will freeze up a lot. the victory freeze has happened to me quite often. also, when i go to the victory screen and i try to look at the graph/map... but then again, after 3 years, my CIV still freezes too much...

It seems to me there are some issues when playing certain animations. You could try playing a game with animations turned off. If it still freezes, then there are probably corrupt files, and those may have to be deleted manually, but may be impossible to figure out which files need replacing. That is what the varify local content is supposed to do in steam, but it seems buggy for a lot of people. I do not know if people have deleted files and then tried running the varification to re-aquire them. A lot of people seemingly delete the whole game and start over and still have the same problem. Moving steam to a different drive, may help?

For a while people were deleting the movie files, from both civ5 and g&k.
