First, take a look at this screenshot of the Off-Topic forum:

Notice anything strange about it? Those two threads are the only two that appeared. Clicking refresh didn't help, but clicking the "go" by the "from the last year" made it load all the threads as normal. So problem solved, but I was wondering why it did this in the first place. Any ideas? Just curious.

Then, after getting the OT-forum to load properly, I noticed that there were a whole heckuva lot of posters viewing the forum! About 140, I think. (Can't be bothered to count right now; just did a simple multipication of # of lines times # of users in the second line). I also looked to see the number of users at CFC, and it wasn't much more than 140, meaning that the great majority of users currently online were browsing Off-Topic. Here's a screenie:

And there's an oddity right here in the SF forum: As of now, below threads (where it says the time), it says that the time is 10:52 PM, which is about right, yet in some threads there are posts after that! And for some reason this thread is considered to have been posted before some other posts, including some of mine that I swore I posted before I posted this thread. And also my "latest post" in my profile is not this thread (as it should be), but instead a post that I actually posted before this thread (in real life, not what the server thinks). This is all before I post this post (what I'm saying is true as I type this, not after I post it).

Edit: No wait, it's true even after I post this! WTH?!!! In my profile it says my latest post is something besides this post, yet I am 100% sure this should be my latest post! Is it because of the database problems (see news update on main page)?

Edit2: Yet in the forum index it says the last post in the SF forum is by me (which is what it should be). Am I just going crazy?

Edit3: When I click the arrow that should send me to the last post in the SF forum (which says it is by me), it sends me to a thread I haven't even posted in! Huh?

Edit4: BTW, I just now checked the OT-forum again, and the exact same list of users browsing the forum is still there. I'm thinking the server is having troubles refreshing (or whatever the technical term for that is). I wonder if it's related to the database problems. Man, I'm so confused I don't know where to start....

Edit5: Hmm, I think this quote might explain the problem:

However its an important issue so it probably warrants the extra attention.

However, my thread is the first, so you should be saying "Hello" to everyone else. (Remember the problem, threads getting out of order?) Also, I haven't seen anybody talking about the two things that this thread was meant to talk about (before I noticed the time stuff).

Nah, no prob. :)

Can anyone figure out the two oddities in the first post? I wonder if the second one (the "users browsing this forum" list showing posters that weren't even there) had anything to do with the time thing, and but I can't figure out how it could. Obviously it was later disabled (probably because of this issue), so I hope it's brought back, fuctioning this time.

I bet when the time was updated correctly it brought it back 12 hours. All the recent posts in that forum was made 12+ hours ahead of that time. So sense these posts don't "Exist" yet they didn't count and all the others that were in the right time didn't make the time limit.

That's the only thing i can think of, though it seems unlikely

(assuming you're talking about the first oddity) Nope, I don't think that's why, because during the time-warp I noticed threads from the future.

Well, here's my theory:

It all relies on time-zone, hence, I am posting this at about 11:30 AM, June 17. And if I am correct, it will be 11:30 AM for evreyone, not just me.

Edit: And I am incorrect.

Sormerne made a pretty good suggestion. Instead of displaying posts by time stamp, vBulletin people should make threads display posts by post ID instead. This way changes in server time would not affect the display order in anyway.

That quite a good idea. Are you going to send them an e-mail or something?

No, but I will post the suggestion in their forum. :)

BTW, I am going to turn the Users browsing this feature back on... let's see if it's still messed up...
