Ok, i just have the vanilla version of civ so i just started playing fall from heaven mod I. I got a few questions

first, whenever i get into enemy territory or even in my territory near the border my units start losing health and dying. I assume this is poison, but i have no idea whats causing the poison or how to stop it. I have inquisitors but they cant cure the poison in enemy territory, how the hell am i supposed to get an advance going when all my units (especially my seige cannons) are dying fast to nothing?

also is there any religion thats considered better than the rest? They each have their unique units and building and everything so is any one of them advantageous over the others?

and finally, for making buildings in your cities i assume you're supposed to specialize each city for a particular type of unit? like for an archery city get bowyers and archery ranges and just pump out archer units, and same for melee/spells/mounted units get their own cities?

No idea, didn't play FfH I. Wanted to point out that you only need BtS for the recent editions of FfH2 (v0.30 up) - v0.23 and below are for Vanilla Civ 4 and far better than FfH 1.

Yes, the purchase price of Beyond the Sword is totally worth it just for the ability to play FfH2. It is just a bonus at that point that BtS is in itself an excellent expansion pack.

Fixed. I agree, but what I was trying to clarify is that you CAN play FfH2 without BtS, just not the later versions.

I would suspect that the reason you are taking damage is due to the Mana of your enemies. I remember that once upon a time Entropy & Chaos would cause units to lose health continually while in your borders. AI would then sit still and try to heal, so just die 1 square in your territory, thus it was removed.

I disagree, BTS is an excellent expansion pack and FFH2 is the bonus. In fact, FFH2 from the BTS version improved a lot thanks to the expansion itself.

Tr00 dat. Although, of course, we appreciate that so many people think the other way around:D

More accurately, BTS was a worthwhile expansion for FFH2. I didn't get it to expand my vanilla civ game. :)

I did play FFH1, but it was quite a while ago so I really don't remember much about it.

I think back then, the religions had thier own passive and active abilities. That might be what you are seeing.

Still, FFHII is different from FFHI in many ways and a whole lot better.

Same here. While I wanted expanded espionage and the random events, most of the expansion boosts the modern period and my interests are in the ancient and medieval periods. As it turns out, I do like some of the other mods on the disk, but really, that's a bonus since the purchase was made so I could play FfH II. Otherwise, I was happy enough with Warlords.

Your playing the FFH Age of Ice scenario right?

Blizzards. There are blizzards all over the freaking place, and they cause gradual damage over broad areas. You can see them as rather iritatting clouds...

Theres a spell thats supposed to rebuke them... but other than that. Its called the age of ice for a reason.

so true. I have never actually played a full game of BTS. I only bought it for FfH2 :goodjob:

Fraxis owes this mod crew some cake....

No, he's not playing the AoI scenario. He's talking about inquisitors, religions, etc, which aren't in AoI. He's playing FFH 1. ;)
