Hi I'm new here, and I'm still playing my first game of Civ 3, and I have a few questions.

1) I set the mobilization setting to war-time. While I'm still at war, I'm wondering if I can set it back to normal. I've tried clicking it and nothing happens, do I have to stop the war before I switch it back?

2) I'm at war with an ally, and we had a mutual protection pact. Now I have the chance to make peace with the country we're at war with, but if I do is that considered breaking the pact, and 'betraying' my ally? If so, how can all three nations make a pact.

If anyone has a minute to answer these questions, that'd be great. Thanks.

Get ready for teh cross-post.

1) You have to sign a peace treaty to be able to go back to normalization.

2) Yes, it is considered betraying your ally if the MPP is still going. Click 'current' on the diplomacy screen (just like you're making a new trade; 'Current' is at the bottom) to see what deals are still standing. There is no way to make 3 way deals, save having all three make MPPs with eachother.

Where are my manners. WELCOME!!!

Thanks. Sorry but where is the diplomacy screen? Is that the same as my foreign adviser screen? And so to finially stop the war legitamitely I need to wait until they sign a treaty, or the MPP runs out??

2 - MPP's last 20 turns. If you make peace prior to that, it'll harm your reputation. Also, if the enemy attacks your ally next turn, you're at war again because the MPP is still in effect. Not a good idea.

Unless you're in danger of being defeated, I'd suggest just fighting a defensive war until the MPP expires. There's a fairly good chance your ally might break it and make peace -- the AI doesn't value its rep as much as most human players do.

And welcome to CFC!

Click the tiny 'D' box on the small map at the bottom right hand of your screen to bring up the diplomacy screen. It will list the civs you are in contact with, and whether they are at peace or war with you.

welcome to cfc.

And when you go to the Diplomacy screen just contact your ally and click on "Active" at the bottom of the box. It will tell you all your current deals and how many turns are left. If you find out that the Mutual Protection Pact is past 20 turns (in which case it won't list the number of turns next to it) then you can just click on it and cancel it with no penalty.

And welcome to CFC! :wavey:

Besides the peace already mentioned, the death of a civ you're at war with will also end mobilization.

And just because I feel like copying everyone else: welcome to CFC.
