A few questions

Hello, I am a newbie at civ3. I played Civ 1 since 1992, then civ 2. I have been away for several years there. I dicovered recently civ 3 and really enjoy it. I do have a few questions.

1-When I clear the forest once I do get 10 shields. If I plant the forest and again a clear it, it seems that I do not get 10 shields. Is it normal or am I somehow wrong ?
2-Walls and other improvement are said to have defense values against bombardment. How does it work :confused: ? Can I choose to bombard specific improvements ?
3-Patches. Which patch should I download for the UK version ?
4-On my conquest/Play the world box they say there are new resources such as sugar/exotic birds/new governement such as blood cults and oligarchies and so on, but I didn't come across them :confused: .
5-Some Wonders/Units in some scenario are said to have one HP more on creation. Does that mean that they appear as veterans ? If I do have a barracks there, do I get an elite unit ? Or are there "normal" units with 4 HP :confused: ?
6-Is there a search function on those forums ?
7-Domination victory is it 67% pop AND/OR 67% territory ? For the territory is it 67% or controled territory or total territory ?
8-Do you get some kind of score bonus depending on the kind of victories you gain? According to the FAQ no..
 
1. You only get 10 chop shields from a tile once.
2. No you can't.
3. Patches.
4. You have to play certain scneraios to get them. Try Age of Discovery for sugar, Mesoamerica for exotic birds and blood cult.
5. Elite units have 6 hitpoints, veteran 5 hitpoints, regular 4 hitpoints.
6. Yes, but defunct.

1. You can only clear a tile once to get its shields bonus. This is to prevent people from infinitely using this to hurry production in corrupt cities.
2. I think that, when you bombard a city with walls, it is less likely to hit. (And the walls are always the first to go)
3. 1.29f UK for vanilla, 1.27f UK for PTW, and 1.22f UK for C3C.
4. Sugar is found in the main game. Others are found in the "Conquests", little scenarios or campaigns.
5. "Normal" units would have four hp, "Veteran" units would have five.
6. Yes, but it's not a good one - the Google one on the top of the page.
7. It's both.
8. No.

1) You only get the benefits of chopping forests once per tile per game.

2) The improvements have a standard defense value that is increased vs bombardment. You cannot choose what to bombard until you research stealth(?) in the modern era.

3) don't know about UK patches. Current versions are Vanilla 1.29f, PTW 1.27f, Conquests 1.22 (no 'f')

4) Sugar and tobacco are bonus resources in the Conquests epic game. The Conquests scenarios have some additional bonuses and resources that are scenario specific.

5) Generally speaking, a scenario that has units with extra hit points means a regular unit will have 4 or 5 hp, veteran 5 or 6, etc. It is scenerio specific.

6) Goggle search at the top of the page.

7) 67% of the total world territory not counting ocean and sea tiles. 66% in Conquests i believe.

8) The bonus score is determined by date of victory independant of victory type.
Something like (2050-year of victory)*difficulty level modifier.
