Thanks to anyone that can answer these:

1. When your units lose strength (3 -> 2 -> 1), will this affect their ability to attack/defend? Or does that only represent unit health?

2. If you choose to display the bar over your units which indicates their chance of winning a fight, does this bar take into account promotions, terrain advantages, etc.?

3. Does gold replace commerce? Is it divided as in Civ III between wealth, science, and happiness?

4. Do you get to choose promotions or are they randomly assigned when you gain experience? If you upgrade a unit with gold, does it keep its promotions?

5. Can you assign wealth/science/happiness distributions at the city level, or only at the civ level?

1- Probably not
2- Probably
3- Divided between Science, tax and Culture (replaces luxuries)
4- Asigned based on conditions (eg jungle victory = guerilla) I think
5- Civ level

I agree, except for 4

4: I think you can choose which promotion to assign to a unit after each promotion point earned.

Watch the Demo Interview and you will see it possible to choose your promotions, so Rhymes is right :)

Actually, I think the truth lies somewhere between the two extremes. I think you get to choose your promotions, but the list from which you choose is based on the type of unit gaining the promotion AND possibly the kind of victory they win (though I am less certain about the second part of this statement).

Hey Guys,

Nothing to base it on but my sense of logic and what I infered from the intereviews but I'm pretty sure you choose your promotions but are limited by your unit (sea units options would obviously be different from land units), previous promotions, and MAYBE even advances (just a guess on the last one, though). That "previous promotions" deal just being that you can't achieve Combat III unless you've already got Combat I and Combat II.
