A humiliating wonder loss

I am a long time lurker but could never tear myself away from the game long enough to post.
I just lost a game Monarch level 8 random playing as celts. In 2001 right after completing manhatten project. I got the message"you have suffered a humiliating wonder loss".At this point there was only one other civ the iroquois. I had control of 20 of 29 wonders.almost double the culture they had and a slightly higher population. The iroquois had slightly more territory.to add insult to injury I was only2-3 turns from completing my spaceship.i was debating whether to launch or go toe to toe with my final adversary. when my game abruptly ended.anyone know what gives?What is the critereria for a wonder loss?

Score. Nothing else. A wonder Victory is exactly the same as a histograph victory, except that it doesn't happen in 2050, but when the last wonder is built. Pretty useless in the regular game, but nice for scenarios.
Note the # of wonders you own doesn't matter, and the game isn't able to check if all wonders can be built - such as no ivory on a small map, or no river.

Wonder victory is one of the short game modes. When it's enabled, the game ends as soon as all the Great Woners are built. Vitory is then given to the Civ that has the highest victory points, not number of wonders under controlled.

I thought i was ahead on points.Unfortunatly I cant check I just updated to 1.22 I will remember to uncheck that box as the sudden end was very disappointing.

Seems strange that the Manhattan Project would be the final wonder. Surely Cure For Cancer/Longevity/The Internet etc hadn't already been built? I don't know about you but it's a very rare game of mine that gets far enough to see any of those wonders built. Maybe the Internet once in a while. But the Manhattan Project is almost ALWAYS built if I have a game that gets to the Modern Age....

I almost always go for the cure for cancer first.Also my starting continent on this map had no uranium(or saltpeter or oil or rubber!)so I couldnt build the manhatten until I could work out a trade
