In all other Civ games you must build roads, i think you should still be able to do this but with one add on, If you have a path or a well traveled area a road should appear after say 20 turns if there is contiuned travel.

Next if you dont travel along a road alot then after awhile the road would dissappear from lack of use\repair, you could create a third slider in the tax screen that shows the maintaince for roads\rail\ and any new road type features. That slider if above X percent would repair and keep up all roads.

Also population use would be taken into account on these ideas, so if two cities were close and there was commerce between the cities.

Any thoughts, add ons, changes. :)

yea possibly a crude road created from over use of the land creatin a 1/2 moment instead of 1/3 bt i dont agree with maintenance and the fact it dissapears i would just like to keep it simple :)

ok i will refine it to make it simplier no maintance but they can still disappear up until the
you discover an industiral age tech

A 1/2 movement point trail would be good. Workers could turn them into 1/3's in half the time. Terrain improvement maintenace slider would also effect irrigation, mines, and canals. Each tile of improvement would have an upkeep cost. The slider would determine how much of the mainenance cost would be met. if not at 100%, regular repair by workers would be needed.

I think that this is needless micromanagement. The only piece of it I like at all is the need for maintenance and I'm afriad that after a few games I'd be cursing it like I curse pollution now.

Good idea of pathes, however it has already be mentioned elsewhere in this forum.
Micromanagement is needles, if you can appoint a minister of roads and attaching workers /and money to him.
