Why don't the Governor's have National Gaurd-esque units under them? I'm not thinking any Grand armies just a defensive unit or two for each city in his province.

They should though definately be given Workers to be given build queues like cities.

Do you think this would make them too powerful? I don't see how, post your thoughts below:

What would they do?

They would give the governors a little more responsibility with the iullusion of powerThe Governors now directly decide where to build roads, the Gaurd allows the Governors, to worry about Riots and have something to counter them with.

I agree..... This give the gov poistion more to it.

I think this is an excellent proposal, it does give governor more position to it.

We have enough trouble getting our governors to post build queues. There is no reason to let our military become lax...

Maybe we could have commanders of the guard who help out gov w/ this

I'm not sure if creating extra positions would be smart... we may have trouble filling our present ones if people don't start getting involved in the Demogame and spend less time in the RPG...

Personaly I dont think this idea would fly due because of several reasons.

Given the other complexities about to emerge with the new demo game RPG I think that this would either 1) create ongoing arguments between the Military and the Governors over who actually has control of defense resources at what time, or 2) governors who are too busy with build queues to bother with peacetime patrols.

And I would not want to be the Governor who has his province invaded. Imagine the flurry of finger-pointing over lack of provincial defense!

Maybe we can just have someone to advise the governor on his descisions regarding his province, like a Deputy Governor, not someone who actually has commandover the military and the workers in the province. That way the governor could make the final decision and not as much finger-pointing would happen and there would not be an argument about whoever controls the resources.

I think this idea will work out fine if:

1) Military department has full control of units during war/preparing time.

2) The domestic department has the right to override worker actions.

hmmm i kinda like like striders amendment to the idea

Maybe we can have a national referendum after we draw up the final plan.
