A problem I am having

I am playing my first game as the Celts. I am at the start of the Middle Ages and I am pumping out Gallic Swordsman in an attempt to conquer my neighbours. However, all of a sudden I can't build them anymore, and I can only build MDI. However, I have had Feudalism for a while and it let me choose between the two before. Any ideas? First time using the Celts, so it may be something obvious that I didn't know about them.

Gallic swordsmen gets upgraded to MDI normally. If you haven't initiated your golden age yet, though, then you will still be able to build your UU. Triggering the GA will then prevent you from building your UU if a more modern upgrade is available.
So you probably initiated your GA and that's why you can't choose anymore.

Really? I never realized a GA did that. And yes I did initiate one.
