A Rant and a 2 questions about Civ 5

Wow, I haven't been on here or played Civ 5 for a very long time, I think last time I played was more or less around December or even earlier.

Anyways,

That also meant I "missed" some of the patches, so my question is this

Since when did the game technicalyl broke the game? I mean, I've played Large and Huge maps no problem before I stopped playing al together, and I just can't understand why it doesn't work anymore (with even more memory too!)

It's saddens me because I doubt the Requirments "suddenly went up" I mean my PC should run the game fine, but on Huge and Large maps the lag (or freeze) really is getting to me, I mean, I was trying play Diplomatic victory with America with 12 civs and 24 states on a Huge Earth map, and I bet that if I played this before all the crazy patches came it would've worked fine.

So my question is, is it just my PC? or is there seriously something wrong with the game, I seriously am seeing this game to be more unstable than it was when it was first released?

Also, is there any solution to playing Huge or Large maps with so many civs? I'd really love to play Hotseat and SP with such "stakes"? Or is it Earth Map's fault?

Actually, the game ran fine with avast completely turned off so that's the issue

I think avast! does not like Steam altogether, because I experience Installation Problem as well, and on both portal 2 and civ 5, and once I turned avast! off it worked perfectly.
