A tech race proposal

The good possibility of winning the race to the TOE creates some interesting possiblities as far as research goes. If this proposal works, which I am almost sure it will, we will have obtained 7 techs in about 24 turns. This is what we would need to do:

1. Trade medicine for communism and corporation.

2. Set the science rate to 70% (up 10%) after finishing scientific method.

3. Research replaceable parts after scientific method (8turns)

4. Research sanitation after that (5 turns)

5. Research espionage after that (5 turns)

6. Set science at 0% for the remaining two or three turns while completing the TOE.

7. Get atomic theory and electronics from the TOE.

Atomic theory is much more expensive than any of these other techs, and the TOE should be used to get it.

Seems a bit contrary to the science queue Strider has set up. What specific advantages does this have over going in the order Strider set up?

BTW, I am behind including Espionage and Sanitation in our plan. I am still unsure of the need to rush to Motorized Transportation. Getting Espionage would hopefully spark some ideas on where our Intelligence Agency would be located.

The main advantage is that we avoid spending many turns researching Atomic Theory when the TOE will give it to us for free.

I support this idea we need both communism for the police station and sanisation to get larger cities

I support it and technically have the authority to do so, but Strider asked all of the citizens this and that is what they approved of, only cabinet or citizen votes should really be able to overturn this. THus I do not support it for the time.

Very good! I would point out though that since this is a new proposal and the old poll did not take into account ToE, it would be appopriate to repoll the citizens on this issue.

Trouble is the turn chat is only 8 hours away and we are scheduled to start researching atomic theory in 5 turns...

I guess you could call a spot vote on the issue...:p

While I like the proposal, I feel we should not alter Strider's queue without his approval. It was also set by popular vote. Why not lobby this point in NSD's thread, Eyrei?

Because, like all other proposals for citizen discussion, I prefer to post them here. I will post a link in the science thread, though.

Hmm, I just clicked over there and noticed Strider and Zur are away, giving curufinwe the science power for a short time. I'm not sure what the easy way out of this is...

The best way out of this, in my opinion, would be to play only 4 turns tonight, allowing us to poll on this issue for the next session.

I would not object to a 4-turn round as well.

I support the 4 turn, and we shall see about the TOE part, for if we get it we'd needn't research those tech's, or perhaps we research the easiest ones? Something like that, if it works I'll be rewarded by Strider, if not then I look like a fool, but I think we should do this, but do not support it as of yet, and I'd hate to disrespect strider that way by removing his work.

I have another proposal. We research Replaceable Parts and then research Sanitation and then switch to another tech depending on turns to completion of TOE, we should try to go as short a time with no science, but should try to get some to, and I don't really want to research espionage, but the citizens decide it.

I'd like everyone who has an idea different to one of the ones to post it in this thread, tomorrow near 12:00 GMT (UST if you will) I shall post a poll on which to accept, or whether to stay with Strider's plan

HEAD FOR COVER!!! :p

Once we start on ToE, (I think we did start it, correct?), we should try to make it finish one turn after getting a new science tech.

We have the ToE in 16 (15 if Eyr is willing to trade Fox Net it's two south-east mined tiles), and Atomic Theory in 12. That gives either:

a. 4 turns to learn/not learn another tech
b. push Fox Nest's production up.

Also, we should build rails on Fox Nest's mountain and hill in the next turn chat.
