Abandon city

There's no way to do it in Civ 6, right?

I remember some previous versions had a button, which would turn a pop 1 city back into a settler, or in some other versions you could do it by rushing a settler in a pop 1 city... Now there's no button and you can't build a settler too...

Just got a bit frustrated - I settled a city forgetting that one nearby had Petra, and a new city took a couple of desert tiles from the Petra one (and those are adjacent to the new city center, so I can't swap them).

And I was too lazy to load an autosave, so just went on, I'll win anyway :D

And while we are at it, shouldn't Petra have some area effect? Or just apply for all cities?

I don't remember this ever being a thing. I do remember that one could put a settler into another city, increasing its pop by one.

I don't remember it being possible in Civ. It was possible in colonization but you had a lot more control over the colonists there anyway. I suppose you can gift it away and then conquer and raze it if it really bothers you.

I think it was Civ2/3 that allowed abandoning a city by building a settler with 1 population.

Ooooh, duh! Yes but it could be a bit OP, especially if Australia got it

But, uh, it's not that you often have desert everywhere. I almost always get it in small patches here and there, rarely large enough to justify building Petra in the first place (you need to spend 1 tile of desert on the wonder itself, and it would normally leave me with like 3-4 tiles to be affected by the bonus).

Don't know about Australia, but desert resource mines with Petra are indeed omg :)

What would be nice for petra is if it was a sort of "Viral" effect. So any desert tile touching Petra gets the bonus, and any desert tile touching 1 of those desert tile gets it, and so on, but only for desert tiles in your teritory.
