Here's a "Huge" (160x160) map of Europe for your gaming pleasure.
Abilard's Europe
What makes this map different form the plethora of other posted Euro-maps?
1) Most of the other maps devote a lot of space to the steppe between the Dniester and the Urals and to the Northern Sahara. Unless you're planning a scenario about the Golden Horde or WW2 (Rommel's campaigns) I believe that this is a lot of wasted space. My map focuses on middle Europe where most of the significant events of Western history occured.
2) Many maps neglect the fact that Civ3 maps are an orthagonal view... in other words you're not looking straight down on the map but at an angle. Many world maps look "correct" but incorrectly assume that you are looking straight down on the geography in question. What these maps end up doing is shortening east-west distances and elongating north-south distances (in a Europe scenario this would over emphasize east-west conflict (Mongols and Crusades) and under emphasize north-south conflicts (the reconquista and 17th century religious wars)). This map is made with the orthagonal view in mind. Because of this some areas may appear "squeezed" in the north-south direction... just remember that it's an orthagonal view and not top down.
