I can not understand the SCORE and the FINAL SCORE!
Why two scores? How does it work the count of points in the final score? The maximum I did was 12.000 and I don't know how. How must I play to make higher scores?

There are various threads on this topic. The easiest way to get a high score is to play a pengea style map on marathon speed and going for a Domination Victory.

To get very high scores you need to maximize the following at the same time as you want an early victory date (say 600 AD).
* A high Population (hint: spread sushi to all your affiliates)
* no of completed techs
* no of completed wonders
* no of completed buildings

The cynical answer to the thread title would be that it doesn't work... at least not very well. The scoring system is quite flawed, placing too much weight on completion date, favouring domination victories, and not enough on difficulty level.

The main factor in base score is population, so have more cities and higher population to maximize it, and the main factor in final score is the base score multiplied. The earlier the finish date, the higher the final score.

So, grow population and finish quickly and the score will be big.
