Abstract military tactics

No. If you're going to add tactics, then they should be real things...make outflanking a unit on the map and encircling count, and have archers be good against slow units, pikes good against horse. horse good against everything but pikes. Etc.

I agree with North King, tactics should depend on unit strengths-weaknesses, use of terrain, and timing. Tactics, by nature, are micromanaged and cannot easily be abstracted.

Strategy can be abstracted using rock-paper-scissors. Choose either a build, expand, or war strategy and for the following 20 turns get a 10% production bonus on buildings, settlers/workers/galleys, or military units respectively.

To this I have to completely disagree, as this would just add another bonus for the #1 player. At least, it would become pointless as two opponents would almost be forced to go for the same strategy setting then, by that balancing each others setting out.

Sorry, but as someone named "Soren Johnson" just is around, I had to bring this thread up again.... :D
