Heres some more examples of lenient sentences in my country...
If you want to be a rapist/ murderer etc come to NZ...

Steven George Anderson...Raped, sexually violated, assaulted, robbed and threatened to kill a Manurewa, Auckland woman in February 2000.
Also set the victim's car alight. Jailed 2000 release date 2007, 7 years.

Terrence Craig Amohanga...Rape assault and robbery of an elderly woman in 1987 ,Killed his partner while driving drunk,abducting of a 6 year old boy...8 years jail.

Peter Tuki Barton...Home invasion, aggravated robbery, assault and threatening to kill two Papatoetoe men on the 5th and 11th February 2001
Previous conviction for violence 6 years jail.

Hammond Winston Kimiora Boyd...Kidnapping and attempted murder of a 19 year old Nelson woman in March 2006
Prior convictions for armed robbery, assault, unlawful taking of motor vehicles and driving while disqualified...8yrs jail but eligible for release in 4 years.

Christian Harry Brusey...Home invasion sexual violation and assaults of three Wellington women between April 2000 and November 2003.
Many many other convictions for theft, burglary, robbery, disorderly behaviour, possession of cannabis, possession of an offensive weapon, unlawful possession of firearms, assault on police, rendering victims incapable of resistance possession of cannabis plant, sexual violation, possession of methamphetamine, indecent assault, cheque fraud, possession of LSD, aggravated assault, common assault, possession of a knife in a public place, receiving stolen property, breaking and entry, careless driving causing death or injury, impersonating police etc etc etc

George Darren Cant...Indecent assault of four Christchurch boys and a girl in 2001
The attempted rape of a Christchurch minister who took him into her family
Sexually attacked a woman in 2006 who allowed him to be paroled to her home
Multiple other convictions for violent and sexual offending, burglary and threatening to kill
Cant has 139 convictions total...6 yrs jail.

Peter George Davis...raped and stabbed to death Sarah Jane Curry, aged just 8 in January 1992.
Also has a previous rape conviction from 1987...Sentenced to a ten year "life" sentence in early 1993
Became eligible for parole January 2002

Jeremy David Eade ..Armed robbery of a store in Balclutha, South Otago in July 2004
Also has other convictions for cheque fraud, assault, breaching a protection order, dangerous driving, drunk driving and driving while disqualified...1 yr jsil.

Charles Edwards...Assault, aggravated robbery, grevious bodily harm in the course of several car-jackings and other robberies in the Auckland district up to November 2002
Assaulted four women in five days
Numerous violent offences since 1993...6 year and 6 months minimum term

Natalie Fenton...Murder of a South Auckland man in the course of a home invasion on April 1, 1999. Lead offender in this case. Was on bail at the time for armed robbery. Also has a long record for serious violence and property offences...10yrs

The 1999 offences were committed shortly after he was released from from prison for his 1996 offence - which he had committed shortly after being released from prison for further prior offending....7 yrs

Barry Raymond Langdon...Repeated rape of a Waihi woman from 1978 to 1989, plus rape, indecent assault and violation of two of his daughters from 1981 to 1999 starting from when they were ten and elevn years of age.
Also numerous assaults and threats to kill with a crossbow.sentenced in January 1985 to just 18 months probation plus a fine.

Daniel Luff...Took the family of his ex-girlfriend hostage with a gun, then shot Detective Constable Duncan Taylor dead, and attempted to shoot Detective Jeanette Park. It appears that he had previous history of burglary and weapons offences. He was on bail for firearms offences on the day of the killings. ..17yrs(not so bad i guess)

Charles Mariri...Raped, indecently assaulted, beat and threatened to kill four young Auckland girls from 2001 to 2004.
Charges as follows; 6 counts of rape, 6 counts of sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, 10 counts of indecent assault of girls of various ages, 3 counts of assaulting a child, 2 counts of common assault, 2 counts of threatening to kill...9yrs jail.

Murdered an elderly couple of Te Akau in the Waikato in May 1994
Also has committed over 50 other offences, many of them violent...10yrs

Basil Steven Marshall Mist...Killed his 17 year old ex-girlfriend in Highbury, Palmerston North, in March 2002
Also raped and sexually violated two girls, one 12 year old and a 14 year old and also sexually violated a seven year old girl...ten years in April 2003 with a minimum six year non-parole period

Allan Tupou Noga...Multiple Auckland armed robberies in mid 2002, plus miscellaneous weapons and other charges
Also a huge string of Queensland burglaries in the early 90's
Assaulted a female while out on home detention in mid 2006
Sentenced to six years and nine months in February 2003
Released on back-end home detention in February 2006
Has reoffended again since, back inside as of July 2006
Statutory Release Date March 2009

Anyway just a few examples...from the sensible sentencing trust in nz.
 
Once upon a time I opposed the death penalty, now I think it should be expanded.

All those crazy judges only want to prove their 'humanity ', and their way to do that is treating the criminal as good as possible. In the Netherlands since only a few years it's allowed for the victims to say anything during the trial.
