Activating civ 4 on steam.

I want to buy civ 4 Beyond on the Sword on steam, but it won't let me unless i have the regular civ 4. Where do I found the product key for my civ 4? I don't have the box, only the manual and disks.

I don't think there is a product key for civ 4. On the steam website it says: Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword requires the Steam version of Sid Meier's Civilization IV to play. Do you have the steam version of vanilla Civ 4?

Only have disks, bought it downloadable off another website I found, its installing right now!

I think you need the steam version of vanilla civ 4 to buy BTS on steam. I think you should buy a hard copy just to be safe.

So you haven't played the game yet? You'll have a lot fun. You won't think about buying Beyond the Sword until later.

Civ4 does not use product keys. It simply requires the disk in the drive (not so for digital copies).


And the 3.19 patch for BtS (As well as the Complete Edition) removes even that.
