I do not see why not.....
They have a lengthy history, they escaped colonization, and beat a European Power (Italy).
They only bad effect i can think of, is they might interfere with Egyptian Growth, as good places to place cities tend to be limited as is.... Most of it is either Jungle or Desert. =\
