Adding more offices?

I think that we'll need a foreign minister when we finish alphabet. That might be possible next term.

My first demogame on this site. I'm more concerned with Offices than with
Officers.

Domestic: Do we want each Elder (or each city) to perform alone without know
or care what other cities do? Or do we want a co-ordination towards the
Nation's goals?
Military: Do we want Defense (and possibly Offense) planed as a whole - type
of units, how many, where and when - and on time or not?
Foreign: Do we want war, peace, tech trades, open boards and so, be planned
ahead or not?

Do we want to play ONE game, looking at its different parts? Or put the several
parts totally separated among themselves?

Best regards,

We don't really need additional offices right now. That's the key word - right now.

Let's look at what we've got going on that's not done by an Elder
-- Scout movement
-- City planning
-- Research
-- Overall strategy

We're doing fine on the Scouts and City Planning - those have been handled well. Research isn't doing as well, but it's being handled as it normally is - minimal strategy. That's not going to be solved by a position. Overall strategy is truly the realm of the Chieftain.

As our nation continues to grow, we will absolutely need and want more offices. In late term 2, I hope that we'll have a Warlord, as we actually develop troops. If we continue to struggle with our research goals, appointing a Witch Doctor that will focus on goals, not details will help.

In term 3, we'll probably want to look at someone to oversee city placement and specialization. We should also consider shifting Elders from a single city, to groups of cities.

Too many offices is a Bad Thing. Too few offices is also a Bad Thing. Right now, we're in great shape.

I mostly agree with Ravensfire. When I spoke at several Offices (Domestic,
Military,Foreign) I see it as important parts of any game; right now,in this
game of ours, they handled by our Chieftain. No problems with.

But the "Office" or "Affair" exists since the game began; just no need to have
several people to look at,yet.

What really confuses me (Just for my lack of experience) is the roll of Elders.
And please, do not misunderstand me, I'm not speaking about our current (or
future) Elders.
How do the Chieftain plan general strategy, if he has no word on cities builds
and developments, and more, can even know not what these will be?
Sure, an Elder plans to develop his/her city without knowledge of numbers,
timings and turns of dedicated workers...

Can some Vet of these structures to teach me, please?

My thanks in advance.

all the buttons and windows( F1 to F10 if my memory is good) should have an office. Even if useless...

Raven we all know that we dont need another office right now but I would believe that people like me and fed1943 want to play something in this game and not just be spectator of the well established posters of this site who will pretty much win all the polls. I dont want to wait for CIV 6 to become an elder and play a part in a demo game

what we could do too are elections. with political parties and plans, etc.

We don't want so many offices that we can't fill them all, but we don't want so few that people who deserve the recognition of holding an office can't get it.

I disagree on us having enough officials right now. No offense intended to the current Chieftain, but the reason we're not getting anything done with tech strategy is that there isn't any leadership for that area. If we need any office to be created, I think the Witch Doctor (nice tribal term btw) is the one we need.

Proposed Initiative - The Witch Doctor Act of XXXX BC

To better plan and coordinate our research activities, this act creates the new elected office of Witch Doctor.

The Witch Doctor controls the planning and direction of our research, and issues instructions for the technologies our scientists should work on.

I support your initiative. But the person in this office should, like most other offices, initiate polls for research paths and technologies like some citizens have taken the initiative to do so.

Isn't the witch doctor supposed to heal people? :crazyeye:  ;)

To fill the Office of Witch Doctor (or Science or Researcher as you want)
looks a good move.

I think said Office can help and not confuse.

(About "too many Offices" I shall go on looking at your structure that I didn't
know).

Best regards,

I still prefer a 'Shaman.' :p

Let's get this moving again.

Mock Poll:
Shall the Witch Doctor Act, as listed in the OP, be enacted?

Yes / No / Abstain
Public poll, 3 days duration.

I think that poll is appropriate, and I'd definitely vote yes to it, just as a clarification though, because elections have passed this office would be filled by appointment correct?

Correct .

Quite frankly, I would prefer a little more forward vision in creating new offices. rather than being too patchy about creating individual initiatives for offices, I would like to see some sort of omnibus act for the three or four new offices being proposed.

A little bit of consolidation never hurt anyone. :p
