Adding New Players to a Scenario

Been playing the Pre-Colombian Civs GEM for a while and it's got to the stage where I'm dominating too much (as the Zulus - lovely starting area!) and there's no challenge left. While pootling around with the World Editor to see if there was anything I could do to freshen the game up, I noticed that Australia was still completely devoid of players, so I decided to add a new civ in this nice, quiet and isolated area, so that I could start again but get a chance to build up a bit before encountering other civs.

Long story short, I added a new player using the World Editor (the Pirates) and gave them a city and a couple of units in Oz. Saved the game as a new scenario, then quit back to the start menu to load this new scenario, only to find that the Pirates are not a selectable civ. What have I done wrong? Or is there any way to swap which civ I control mid-game?

If you want it to work, load the starting scenario with notepad or editor, copy in an additional team (pirates), also add the other information about it (just look how other civs stats are listed in the file and add one new civs entry at)

Sweet Moses, I didn't even realise you could edit the scenario files with notepad! *Total modding newb*

There's a parameter "Playable Civ"; set that to "1" and everything's gravy.

Thanks for your help! :)

You're welcome :)

By the way if you edited a precolumbian earth map version that includes ozeanian civ(s) feel free to post that file in the GEM thread of the C2C subforum

I am sure many people playing this map would be happy to test different setups of Civs, at least I know I was thinking to add australian civ myself, so I'd gladly test your version^^

People helping with mapping/coding are very welcome!!!
