Adding Sounds

Hello there. I did translate some of the game texts to add a new language, what I need to know now how can I add a new audio language, i mean how can i make the sounds extension compatible with the game. If its nearly not possible, can I make it as an mp3 sound and replace the original sounds (so it would be a mod not a new language), if it's possible, give me some hints
