has anyone ever encountered a problem on Win ME where, it says you don't have full rights to install a program like ICQ. I have all users having the same rights, aka Admin users. I have seen this on Win 2k where you can limits what different users can do like install and run stuff, but i have never seen it on ME. my machine crashed while i was install ICQ and now it says i don't have the admin right's to install this program. anyone have any ideas on where i can change or look at the Secruity policys on ME?

i can always re-format and waste 2 hours but i wana see if anyone has any idea's first.

thanks

basically there isn't any feature in ME like in the NT based windows versions that let you give rights to users.

I once encountered that Admin Rights thingy too when I wanted to start regedit. That was after I installed a Firewall to test it and it had an option to protect itself from being disabled via registry and thus disabled registry access until you entered a PW.
I tried to get around it with Tweak UI but had no luck.

You may be able to restore the registry depending on when it happened.

Go to start then run. Then type "scanreg /restore". You will get a message about restarting windows. Say yes. Then select a date before the problem happened. See if that fixes it.

You could also try system restore.

Yep I had that problem. Twice actually.
There's only one way to get rid of it permantly : install WinXP or Win98. WinME is a *bad* idea when you want to do anything "unusual" with your comp.
