Okay, just checking a theory here. Until we get at least twenty responses, I would like to avoid drawing any conclusions. Basically, I want to see how age affects politics. The poll basically speaks for itself. Please be honest, this is for science.

Rather than reply to my own post, I'll point out the obvious. I am a 31-40 capitalist. :goodjob:

A very interesting notion, but harken!
Is that a can of worms being opened in the distance?;)
What of those who do not fit so easily into either term (the fascists or the Orange People to name two...). Yes, I can laready hear the answer that we cannot fit everything in, so I'll just go off into the polling tent...grumble, grumble, grumble...Say hello to the Party official who stands behind you and makes sure that you vote how YOU want to(;) ), fill in the durned form, wander over, put it in the box, then emerge from the disk drive of my computer, and go back to writing my paper on Depictions of Repressed Homosexuality in 1960s British Public School films;)

Just remember what Churchill said:

"If you're young and conservative, you've got no heart.
If you're old and liberal, you've got no brain."

Let me guess: You're mission is to prove that socialists are young, and
therefore they are waaay stupider and therefore socialism is stupid?

[EDIT: Serious spelpling Miss Takes.]

Juize - just by posting this sort of things you make socialism AND young people look stupid.

I do protest, for no where is Keynesian mentioned. I shudder to consider Keynesian be grouped with laissez-faire (mispelled, but its french so its ok) under the broad range of capitalism.

Hmmm. I fall between the cracks, as usual. I'm in the 31-40 age range, but I'm not exactly capitalist, nor am I exactly socialist...

Churchill said alot of things...

So I'm expected to catagorize myself and all my beliefs into one of two groups? Hmm, sounds like some other systems I'm familiar with...

I'm 19, find that my beliefs tend to be all across the charts (and many of them completely out in the stratosphere somewhere), and can not make a correct decision with respect to this pole.

Keynesianism and laissez-faire are economic startegies, though, not ideologies.

And both are pants, also. Monetaraism coupled with a compasion for social problems is a far better approach. keynesianism can really mess up the economy, as my country knows all too well.

I'm not sure how many options you can have on this, but asking people to slot themselves into one of two ideologies is a bit, ermm, silly.

Democratic Socialist on some issues...cranky old Conservative on others. I like to read the Times of London , so I guess that makes me a Tory...lol.

Dog

P.S. This is a stupid poll !

I wouldnt define myself as a socialist or a capitalist

But if I had to choose one, it certainly wouldn't be socialism....Gotta be realistic.

Bah, monetarists are too passive. It's a good strategy if things are going well. But monetarists won't be nearly enough if their is a major depression. Adjusting the interest rates will not stop a major depression.

I agree that to much government involvement in the economy over the long term is bad.

I AM NOT A NUMBER, I'M A FREE MAN!!

sorry wrong response.

I shudder to consider Keynesian be grouped with laissez-faire

Why can't Keysian policies and Laissez-faire policies both be classed as capitalist? It seems like you are debating which shade you like when you were asked what colour to you prefer.

Well, with 32 votes tallied, there seems to be no correlation between age and ideology. Then again, 32 votes isn't a lot.

And just to clarify what I thought was obvious, I was referring to fiscal (IE economic) leanings, not social or governmental. Hence, capitalism instead of conservatism. Oops, I should have put economics in place of politics.

Crap!! That had to skew the results... Ah, screw it. I don't care enough to try it again...

You fail to realise that some of us are NOT political minded.
And if we are, you do not cover all ideals and leanings.

Were are the green parties?
The liberals?
The radicals?
The couldn't-care-about-crap-politics people? (like me)

You make sweeping generalisations.
I recommend an adjustment in your worldview.

Sheesh, I only had twenty options for the poll. Get a grip.
