In my department, many undergraduates played this game together. It's like some kind of culture, from the top student to the bottom few. Now I graduated and I'm not sure if they have time and network connection to play AoE.

If you want to play Age of Empires II online the best place u can go is http://www.gamepark.eu/en/. The expansion seems to be more popular. But be warned, if you have not been playing this game for a long time, even bad rook games will be too hard for you. Look to join a newbie/noob game. Or maybe get Gamespy Arcade (http://www.gamespy.com). Less people play there, but more of them are likely to be lower skill level. Its a great game, and I still play a few games online at least once a week. If you want to get your skill level up quickly, watch a few recorded games (make sure you record the game if you are up against people with high skill).

eh, I'm not bad. At a point I was 1800-1850 on arabia, but I haven't played in yrs.

I only play singleplayer. Age of Empires 2 has one of the best mapping community in the RTS world. Especially if you are into historical things.
