CORRECTION: Can't delete this thread because its already been responded to. Did not lose iron. Ack - despite the fact that I've been playing Civ for years some nights I am the complete n00b. Rush to the forum to tell everyone that I just relearned the Strategic Resource box... again. The first time was legit, just happened to be 2 days ago so when I couldn't build a knight in every city again, I figured I'd lost it. Planted the city right on top of it so couldn't see it. Its in there...

OK, something is up. I've just played my second game where on the turn following the turn I declare war, I lose my source of iron. Seems to only happen when I declare war for the first time as an aggressor. I've reloaded the games and if I don't declare war I keep my iron, but every time I declare war, its gone - and there's no announcement for it. The 'Source of Iron has been Exhausted' message never pops up.
Interestingly, I am also Building a City on the same turn in the second game (not sure if that was the case in the first). If I don't plant the settler, I keep my iron. If I wait to plant the settler until the next turn after I declare war, I also keep my iron. So that is my workaround. The fact that this has happened twice - losing iron on the turn that I declared war - makes me suspicious, the fact that there is no pop-up announcement starts making this stink like a bug.
I ran a couple searches of the forums, but searching for the word 'war' isn't allowed due to its length, so I didn't come up with anything. Anyone else run into this?
