I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night. I thought it was excellent. The special effects were well done, and the acting was great. Anyone else had the pleasure yet? I suggest you all see it. Let's just say it was worth the $8.25 I had to pay. Cheers, landlubbin mates!

I loved this film. I went yesterday in the evening and my theatre had 30 people dressed up like pirates and who acted like pirates - it added a LOT to the experience. For the previews they "Arrr!!"ed for the good ones and jeered at the bad ones (and called Tom Cruise a pansy) :p it was just classic. The audience who weren't like pirates loved the whole thing. (The pirates were a band of friends who were celebrating the birthday of one of the guys there, so it wasn't anyone hired or anything like that, just random people having some fun.)

Anyhow, the film was lots of fun - probably the best summer blockbuster out of them all (for this year I mean.) It had great action and great comedy with a decent story. Of course there were a few tacky moments and whatnot, but this film is geared towards a wide-ranged audience, not just adults. I honestly think this is the best pirate film so far.

SPOILER (nothing major/too bad)
For those of you familiar with the Pirates of the Carribean ride at Disneyland, there's a treat for you as well ;)

Johnny Depp is a great actor and does a killer job. Orlando Bloom does an okay job, but I'm really not that huge of a fan of his - even if he is Legolas. Depp's role really made the film all the better.

I definately recommend this film for a good time. It has laughs, action, and it's fun to watch.

Clever text trick, Jeratain!

Did you ever work for the CIA?

Woah, just saw this movie and I was thoroughly amazed. Johnny Depp was incredible, the movie was beautifully written with sparkling dialogue, and the musical score was terrific. Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush were both quite good and the action was fun, but Johnny Depp really made the movie. I also enjoyed the two English redcoats who reminded me a lot of the castle guards from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. You know the guys: "So we're supposed to stay here and not let him leave?"

Just saw this today. Very good, despite what you would think of the trailer. :p

Arr! :yeah:

I also saw it today!
It was one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

Yea, I can honestly say its my favorite Disney movey ;)
Supposedly, it's the first ever Disney movei not rated PG. If they threw in a little more blood, it could almost have made R, or dare I say, AARRRRR!

Going to go see it with my girlfriend and her friend tomorrow :)

They're dressing up as pirates...but alas, I have no clothing of pirate quality, and I do not want to dress up as a piratette, as the girls have the clothes :p

Did they make it into some kind of ghost story? If so, how did they accomplish that? Did they do it well?

I'd have preferred they made it a regular pirate story, but...

I saw it just a few days ago, it was AWESOME :), though dose any one know how old Depp is? he dosent look much older then Orlando bloom....

I was skeptical at first too, but after seeing it, they do a very good job.

Very Mild Spoiler Alert (But I don't think it is):

Some of the pirates are cursed, so when the moon is shone on them, they look like skeletons. It makes it really creepy. The music and the cinematography combined with the special effects make it marvelous. There are seens were moonlight may seep through tiny cracks on a ship or cave, and yet, EVERY TIME a cursed crew member steps through it briefly, they flash skeleton, or a part of them does.

I wish to see this movie so bad, but Toasty won't go with me, and I have no other friends. I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out on VHS/DVD. :(

No, don't wait. Grab a chick and go. You will not regret it, and neither will she, since there's Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp for her, and cool pirates and ships for you. Everyone wins!

Better yet, forget the movie, and just grab the chick

Wait, then the Chick would complain and would want to see a Chick Flic Movie

Wow. That's a hard decision. Chick or action movie. It depends on how hot... I mean intellegent the female may be (and if she's Catholic).

Your posts make me want to see this movie real bad. I don't want to go to work tomorrow and just see it, now.
