I don't know how many of you played SMAC, but if you did you no doubt remember what a pain Miriam Godwinson of the Lord's Believers faction was. I'm wondering if there will be leader specific personalities like there was in SMAC.

More than likely. Especially now that there are different leaders for most of the civs, it will lead to different diplomatic experiences, I'm sure.

i hope so, i liked how in smac, the greenies would be peacefull and the spartans would go around kicking a$$

I'm hoping that Gandhi will lose his civ3 sassy attitude.
I don't know what you mean by that. Would you prefer if he were aggressive and arrogant? That wouldn't be very realistic.

Actually, they have already confirmed individual attitudes and personalities as being in the game. They described the very different experience you will have dealing with France under Napolean-as opposed to Louis XIV. They also mentioned how Ghandi will tend to aid weaker nations, and will not go to war at a whim. The other differentiation is that each leader has his/her own set of preferred civics options and building priorities-which will come across not only in AI behaviour, but even in how you the player will play that civ.
The last part, which is speculative on my part, is that each leader will also have their own Unique Unit.
So, if I understand correctly, what will set leaders apart is:

1) Their Traits.

2) Their Civics and Building priorities (and, possibly, even their tech priorities).

3) Their attitudes and behaviour towards other civs (and possibly towards specific civs as well).

4) Possibly their Unique Units.

Yours,
Aussie_Lurker.

I can't wait for a new nemesis! They make the game so much more fun.
Your right about Godwinson she was annoying. It was the Spartans and the Sea faction (can't remember name of either leader at the moment) that were my arch rivals each time. I think that was because they appeared in every game that those leaders carried so much more emotional baggage.

I agree the spartans were good rivals, I just thought it was great how whenever you'd run across a specific civ in smac you'd think "here we go again". I've not got the same feeling while playing civ 3

exactly, all the factions were diferent in a real way, not only did they have bonusses and penalties for different things, but they had personalities too, realy great! hope its like that in cIV...
